Looking at the pictures, it is astounding they got out of that plane.

Looking at the pictures, it is astounding they got out of that plane. Yea, I seen the picture first. Seeing the video, the picture is ten times worse than the initial incident.

It's amazing what can look like a hideous crash and have barely any injuries vs being killed by something that looks like nothing.
I mean I was just thinking the other day about Dale Sr's crash not really looking like anything but a trashed car on TV, vs Kubica at Canada deconstructing his car and only missing one race.
I'm glad everyone involved in that is relatively fine, because that looked bad.

Damn, I was cheering my butt off for DiBurrito but Newman has to play grumpy old man and screw it up. Hamlin probably would have caught him a few laps later but it just sucks to see him pull that crap.

Ryan Newman: New Local Man? "New"? He's been that for a long while now. It still has to be that way because "New" and "Man" are already in the dude's name.

Leclerc takes pole for the Belgium Formula 1 race... Bigger developing story right now is a monster crash in the supporting Formula 2 race that necessitated the cancellation of the race, and the health of the involved drivers Anthoine Hubert and Juan Manuel Correa.

I've seen the footage and it was horrendous. The fact that there's been no news yet is very worrying.

The FIA reports that Hubert has passed away as a result of the accident. Crowd footage (the broadcast only caught the aftermath and refused to show replays) shows that his car, at a dead stop in the middle of the road horizontal to the racing line after crashing on the outside wall in avoiding another crashing car (Giuliano Alesi), was hit at near full speed by Correa, splitting it in two. Shades of the 2001 IndyCar accident involving Alex Zanardi and Alex Tagliani that nearly killed Zanardi and led to the amputation of both his legs.
Horrible news.

One of those terrible days in motorsport that unfortunately happens every so often.
Juan-Manuel Correa was said to be in a stable condition in the FIA statement, so hopefully he pulls through ok. Giuliano Alesi was also involved but has been declared fit.

A messy start. Verstappen is out after contact with Kimi, safety car out.

And Erik Jones wins a much-rain delayed Southern 500 because Kyle Busch couldn't stop smacking into the wall on the last couple laps.
f***ING DAMN IT, KYLE....

Qualifying in Italy, and a big sensation early with technical problems for Verstappen leaving him unable to set a time, and as such he'll be starting at the back of the grid for the race.

What a f***ing clownshow that Q3 session was. Leclerc gets pole, but nobody sets a second time because they were all too busy playing slowcoaches on their out lap, jostling for position, and nobody made it to the damn finish line to start a timed lap before session time ran out.
