1960-----------Psycho 1961-----------The Pit and the Pendulum 1962-----------Carnival of Souls
It's 1963, the year Kennedy was assassinated and The Beatles started to make their presence known in the U.S. Vote for your favorite movie from that year, and, as always, explain your choice (if you like), as well as mention any other movies you might have seen on this list, below.
We will also accept Write in Votes (although, please mention it as such) for movies not included on the list I'm getting the choices off of. However, I will not remove any from the list (I can't by that point), so, if you want to make your case why a certain movie isn't a horror film, make it. Hell, you might end up swaying a few voters from going in that direction, but I can't/won't remove it from the list or DQ it.

Went with BLOOD FEAST, considered the birth of the "Gore Movie" or "Splatter Movie".
"Have you ever had an EGYPTIAN FEAST?!"

The Haunting for me, with Black Sabbath a close second.
I find The Birds to be really over-rated for what it is (yeah controversial I know.)
The only other 63 film I have seen is The Terror which despite having Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff in it, is an awful mess of a movie.

I assume Kwaidan is in for tomorrows poll?

If Coffin Joe didn't exist Blood Fest would have gotten my vote. Seeing the fussy VHS of the CJ stuff in 2000 or so was what got me back into foreign horror.

I would like to give a recommendation to X: THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES. Been awhile since I seen it, but it's dope. Love the ending!

Well, it looks like The Birds will be going on to Round Two. Not surprising, as it is a great film, but I'm surprised The Haunting didn't do better. That was the one I voted for, as it is a fantastic film. Dementia 13 is a creepy little gem, and one of the first films Frances Ford Coppola directed. It was produced by Roger Corman, who was quite busy this year. He also produced/directed other 1963 films, including X: The Man With X Ray Eyes and The Raven, which is quite fun. I will also mention the importance of Blood Feast, as it relates to the Gore Film. However, I will also say that it is more important that it is really....good. Sorry HGL fans. Mantago is also an interesting one, as it deals with people eating strange mushrooms on a "deserted" island, and transforming into MUSHROOM PEOPLE(!!!). All right....gonna tuck the wife in, and then it's on to 1964.
