So it's basically a "technology gone wrong" by-the-numbers "evil toy" movie instead of having the humanity of Charles Lee Ray being a real person with real human motives. Meh...

Wait, they're remaking it? What's even the point when the most recent movie only came out just over a year ago and was well-received?

Wait, they're remaking it? What's even the point when the most recent movie only came out just over a year ago and was well-received? The reason they're remaking it is that MGM owns the rights to the original movie (and thus, the remake rights). Don Mancini will be making a Child's Play TV series for SyFy Channel.

Didn't they just remake this and it drawing good praise a few years ago?

This is such a slap in the face to Don Mancini that I can't possibly support it.

Curse of Chucky is older than I thought it was. 2013
The most recent one in 2017 is the one I was thinking of

Wait, they're remaking it? What's even the point when the most recent movie only came out just over a year ago and was well-received? Technically there's two Chucky projects coming. This is a reboot from Orion that has no connection with the other films, down to no involvement from practically anyone involved in the original films (Brad Douriff isn't even listed as the voice of Chucky). It's essentially being made to capitalize on the success of It. And there's a Child's Play TV series coming to Syfy that Don Mancini and David Kirschner are making that will be a continuation of the original franchise.
