To be honest, the guy who plays Natsu Dragneel in the Fairy Tail dub is basically the same voice and apparently not a creep. Aaaaactually, jury's still kinda out on that one. Long story short, "We had both been drinking and I thought it was consensual." If the mutual friend is to be believed, at best, Todd exhibited poor judgement that night. And at worst, well... It gained enough social media traction to cost him at least one job, but Unlike Vic, this seems like an isolated incident and he doesn't have a history of sketchy behavior and horror stories. And tbh Funi dub isnt exactly filled with angels or saints. Because I go back 10+ years with some of them, I do wanna say that the new generation of talent at Funi is absolutely filled with genuinely great, humble young people who just really love anime and don't want to delude themselves into acting like untouchable rock stars. Especially because they grew up hearing the Vic stories. A "good time" for them is streaming on Twitch or catching Pokemon.

Yeah the thing with Todd sounds a lot more vague so I'm reserving any judgement on that. Be a shame if it's true though.

The only "old guard" Funimation VA I follow on social media anyway is Eric Vale, and frankly, I'm kinda glad for that.

I'll go to bat for Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham, though I don't think they've done anything with Funimation in ages.
In general the Critical Role crew are really cool, IMO.

She's coming back to do Fruits Basket. I'd imagine between Critical Role and all their video game work in California it's hard for them to get back to Texas for anime work. Though I honestly cant remember the last time either of them did one, sadly.

On the topic of Todd, I am not a fan. In addition to him poking his head in on the story that didn't name him and was focused on Vic, anyway, one of my best friends met him at a con when she was 18, with him plying teens with booze because the hotel bar or wherever didn't really bother with carding. She was with a group and left with them, but hearing this story, was quite understandably chilled because... yeah....

Yeah, California is where most of the VA opportunities and acting opportunities in general are, along with Funimation's own parent company in Sony Pictures. I think it was just Funimation and ADV in Texas, and ADV's been gone a long time.

I just discovered the current push on Twitter or wherever to defend this guy, and I think I ended up facepalming hard enough to knock my brain out the back of my skull.

Another article, this time by io9, and more allegations have dropped.I just discovered the current push on Twitter or wherever to defend this guy, and I think I ended up facepalming hard enough to knock my brain out the back of my skull. At this point, it's not really about defending Vic anymore. They're trying to pull an "eye for an eye" and are actively trying to harass Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi to the point where they quit. I'm kind of at the standpoint where if Vic really regretted his actions as much as he wants to claim, he'd condemn the people using his name to harass them, but instead he only did that tepid "hate begets hate" response.

Could we not try to shove gamer gate into every situation that it has nothing to do with? Also dont let the assholes distract you that game journalism IS a scummy industry, regardless of what movement does what. Also using the "anime avatar" strawman is annoying. That being, can anyone explain to me the evidence for/against hi,?I'm not that much into the loop.I know there are petty solid statements but nothing in detail. What are the defenders using as excuse? And why is the evidence so damning?

Also it's not even a matter of defending anymore. People are going to use him as an example per se. If you got some type of dirt on your name than the "fans" are now in hunt mode to call you out on some shit and force people to hate you

But it's literally the same people. A quick look at the tags of the people defending Vic (and harassing his better known victims) will attest to that. And strawman fallacy only applies in debates and not in a one-off insulting comment.

It is the exact same people enacting this, though. A lot of the remnants of GG went and formed Comicsgate when they were starting to lose relevance and needed a new target, and now they're trying to make an Animegate too. As usual, they're just using it as an excuse to give bullshit to a woman. Former Channel Awesome contributor Marzgurl coined the #KickVic hashtag, so naturally it's entirely her fault he got fired. Not, y'know, several internal investigations and being a creepy jackass. Her current Twitter feed is basically just her KOing fools.
