You have been selected to be a new Pokemon Gym Leader.
What Pokemon type will you be representing? Why that type? Which six Pokemon will you use? (you can't have starter pokemon)
After much thought I would be a Water Type Gym Leader. Mainly so I can have a swimming Pool in my gym and force would be pokemon masters to learn how to swim.
I'd Use:
Kingler - My main Crab, fear it's attack power Poliwrath - Hypnosis and then Punch in the face Gyarados - No water gym should be without one. Whiscash - Suprise electric trainers, Earthquake Relicanth - Extinct? Not yet buddy! Araquanid - Arachnophobia in the Water!!
How about you?

The Themed Gym thing was always dumb to me. Wouldn’t it make trainers stronger, and test them better to face a diverse roster of Pokémon? Instead of them all potentially being OHKO’d by 1 Pokémon with the right move on the opposition.
Like, we’re always told to make sure to have a diverse 6 so we can handle any situations and literally like every other f***ing trainer we face (other then the rival) has a themed roster. Just seems like piss poor game planning to me

Elesa in Unova had an Emolga, a flying type to counter your ground and grass team

You have been selected to be a new Pokemon Gym Leader. What Pokemon type will you be representing? Why that type? Which six Pokemon will you use? (you can't have starter pokemon) How about you? 1. Dark type. 2. Dark types have three of my all-time favorite pokemon, and in general the designs are too stylized to really lean into the edginess dark type implies. Also being a dick is pretty cool aesthetically, and looking cool is half of the battle already. 3. Murkrow, Cacturne, Scrafty, Sharpedo, Sneasel, Bisharp. - A solid mix of secondary typing along with being very pointy and sharp. Also contains all of my pokemon major food groups (knife types, birds, and the f***ing torpedo shark) The Themed Gym thing was always dumb to me. Wouldn’t it make trainers stronger, and test them better to face a diverse roster of Pokémon? Instead of them all potentially being OHKO’d by 1 Pokémon with the right move on the opposition. Just seems like piss poor game planning to me This right here, is not a good pokemon take. Pokemon as a game is based around each battle being a minor puzzle. Making every battle include several sub-steps (between 2 and 4 for most trainers, and a rare 5 or 6) where you have to consider and counter various typing does not increase the overall difficulty of the game while making each battle more of a slough. Also, pokemon is a (very good) children's game for babies, you can very well choose to beat the in-game with literally anything you choose, but for the people new to the system the game has to emphasize the puzzle aspect of the combat. If you are talking in kayfabe, replace my game mechanics rant with a similar one about how testing the mettle of someone and specializing is a big part of looking cool, which is half the battle (passim)

Part of the fun of Pokémon is the battles never feel excessively long or artificially drawn out.

I'd have an Eevee themed lineup:
Jolteon Vaporeon Flareon Glaceon Umbreon Espeon
My gym would also have an Eevee daycare center where Eevees and their evolved forms run free and interact with each other and get attention.

I've always said I'd have a Poison type gym. Congrats, psychic-type users, you'd have a f***ing field day.

Basic as it comes maybe, but I'd be a Water Type Gym Leader.
My team would be...
Carracosta Kingler Lapras Poliwrath Tentacruel Wishiwashi
Mostly picked mons I've run with in the games that I like the designs of and proved to be useful. Because if I'm going to be a gym leader, I want friends I like and can play with. Well. Besides maybe Wishiwashi.

Dark type entirely because there STILL hasn't been a Dark gym. As for specifics...
Zoroark Sableye Honchkrow Malamar Sharpedo Houndoom
Good type variety but still kind of a distinctly mid-game threat. Granted a Fairy type alone could wreck the entire team except Houndoom.

Since Dark is pretty covered, I think I would be a Steel-Type Gym Leader. My team would consist of: - Ferrothorn
- Magnezone
- Skarmory
- Aegislash
- Excadrill
- Mawile (Mega)

Let's go with a flying type gym for me, then. Like, if the gym is my place of employment, then I'm gonna go to work riding a flying pokemon.
And let's just go crazy with a gym. Since it's flying types, let's make the gym a freaking airship. Make challengers go through hell to get to me. Like if it was a platformer, there'd be wind shenanigans to push them around. Really draw it out so it'll take forever to get to me so I can laze around for a long time. Hell, let's put in some trap doors that'll send them back to the gym entrance.
As for Pokemon...
Staraptor. Staraptor is cool. Pidgeot. I was the type of player who kept Pidgeot all the way to the end of Pokemon Red/Blue. Like, it was the starter Pokemon, and the first flying type encountered on a permanent spot in my team, and the other four is random. That was pretty much how I played Pokemon, not including the Touhoumon hack and the actual Touhoumon game. Honchkrow. The "blue oni" to my Staraptors' "red oni". Talonflame. Not really familiar of the Pokemon of this generation, but he looks cool. Gligar. Reckon having one flying type Pokemon that's also ground helps spice things up a little. Salamence. It's a flying type, and dammit I want a dragon type as well.
In the end, the most important thing is the gym has to be an airship. And it moves from town to town. Because screw you trainers, I wanna wander around in a freaking airship with pokemon.

Hmm, maybe Bug or Ground, though part of me wants to say Dragon so I could use my favorite pokemon (Druddigon). Hmm. I've always said I'd have a Poison type gym. Congrats, psychic-type users, you'd have a f***ing field day. There's Alola Muk and Drapion who are both part Dark, so you have two options for pokemon immune to psychic types.
