People's interpretations of Galar as full of hooligans, blokes, Monty Python characters, and every other dumb stereotype they can think of Britain is probably going to be more entertaining that the sterilized anime depiction of England. Though, in the case of hooligans, I'm hoping we have a Team Skull-like faction that's based off soccer hooligans that chant and the rank and file are depicted by the type of scarf they have. As long as we never go back to Team Flare, that's awesome; though I'd prefer it if we never went back to a villainous agency (heck, Team Rainbow Rocket could just fill in from here on out as a group that DID succeed and now that they're bored, want to go to other dimensions to cause more mayhem). Also, they kinda got the map wrong. They flipped it around where you start in Scotland and London is above the Highlands, except London is at the bottom of Great Britain. Also, I am going to feel bad for the Welshies; they're likely going to be forgotten about. pretty sure that city you are talking about is based on Edinburgh... since Scotland has cities...

I was gonna say they announced more then 18 months ago that all new main Pokémon titles would be for the Switch. Besides, having a 3DS gets you Pokemon Gen 1,2,4-7 which isn’t too bad. And a lot of sweet side games too

I didn't like Sun much at all. The fact the game insisted on stopping my playing every 5 minutes for a long and dull cutscene was one of the worst additions into the series. Pokemon should be pretty hard to mess up, the stories are by and large pretty pedestrian and the less interesting part of the game. So when the game forces me, as much as Sun did, to try and care about whatever over-dramatic anime trope they're pushing, you completely lose me. Either cut those down to the bare minimum like most of the previous games did, or give me an option to skip. It's not a big ask.
I'm definitely bearish on any new Pokemon games right now. I'll wait to see what reviewers say before picking another one up.

Hau was also the worst character in the history of the series. Like having a sentient hyperactive talking puppy following you around all game.

Seriously, now I need to get a Switch for both it and the new Fire Emblem?
You realize I'm not made of money

In the unlikely event I ever get a Switch, you better believe that almost every single Pokémon I get will be named after UK metal bands.
Except the starter, which will be named Roman by default.

Wonder what everyone's going to assume is going to be the third version this time around only for them to not actually do that in the conventional way since they haven't since Gen 4.
My guess is Hammer.

Wonder what everyone's going to assume is going to be the third version this time around only for them to not actually do that in the conventional way since they haven't since Gen 4. My guess is Hammer. Gun is the common joke I've seen thrown out. I wonder if we're going to get anti-war themes or something. The was one of the games that had the library with it saying that ancient humans had cast aside weapons to do battle with pokemon as part of a covenant, after humans had hunted pokemon and drove them to the brink. Of course, like any Pokemon legends, they deliberately don't commit too hard to it, both because I think they like to keep their options open, and because it's a legend, anyway, and there's no reason to think the finer points wouldn't be lost to the ages. Besides, like the vagueries about humans and pokemon being one and the same, there's certain places Game Freak probably don't want to go without plausible deniability. In any case, a big part of the ethos of the series has always been about Pokemon battles being sporting, and definitively *not* a blood sport like a cockfight, with Satoshi Tajiri choosing "fainting" because he was uncomfortable with death being treated trivially in a game series like this. I could see them using the theme of weaponry and armor to tackle some of the difference between a competition and taking things too far, for power, greed, revenge, or otherwise.
