Where did it go wrong for Becky vs Charlotte vs Ronda?

I think it was Becky winning the Royal Rumble. As cool and super hot moment as it was, it means it started WAY to early. Where it just seemed to be going around in circles for weeks.

Charlotte should have won when Ronda interfered, Becky should have kicked off with The McMahons post Rumble and got suspended for a month, and only returned to TV at the end of February, put in a match with Charlotte at Fastlane to get her spot in the match, that way we've been deprived of Becky for a month and she would have returned hotter than ever and the true build then begins now with three weeks to go.

But they have kind of gone on a loop where it all got very monotonous.

The moment Becky started having her leg issues is when it started to go downhill. At that point it was clear that they were going to do this "Becky isn't fully healed yet" angle and we know how the company works, that was never going to work out, it was going to slow her down. Secondly, it's the McMahon involvement. Becky having that whole thing with them and her getting cleared was trash, the stuff with Vince is trash too. Charlotte was going to be involved, they could have just said "well Charlotte was the last woman in the ring since Becky wasn't originally in the Rumble so she doesn't count" and it would have worked, there was an easy escape to throw Charlotte in there but nope, had to have Vince do it the way he did which turned into all sorts of things.

But basically, the moment Becky started having leg issues which furthermore rolled into the McMahons, that's when the feud started to go downhill.

Adding Charlotte period. I said this a couple of months ago but to me it was just one too many times of shoehorning Charlotte into a Becky match for no good reason other than a nepotism push. Having the match last night would be okay but it needed to be a pure #1 contender deal with Becky winning. The dilemma is that there's just too much TV to fill and thus you have to do all sorts of wacky storylines. Even still there could be a story in Charlotte being this unworthy chick that gets all of these matches but that isn't the story they want to tell. We're supposed to think she's just the bestest woman on earth and deserving of everything.

The problem is that we've seen Becky and Charlotte a million times. We've seen them in a 3 way a few times as well. Rousey is there now instead of Carmella or Asuka. There's also this to consider: The Women's title just doesn't matter that much. I mean this is the belt that Alexa Bliss spent most of last year devaluing and it was purely an undercard deal. This isn't to say the whole Becky/Charlotte aspect at SS didn't have any heat. It did. But it had heat about like the Trish/Mickie feud in 2006. As in it's pretty amusing and entertaining but if that's the hottest angle you've got in the company then you're in big trouble.

I HATE this knee injury shit. You cannot be a badass while hobbling around on a crutch. It undercuts everything Becky is supposed to be.

Becky's Rumble win? Brilliant. The night after on Raw? Fantastic.

But then they started doing the stupid injury gimmick, and then Charlotte is involved, and then Ronda is still trying to be a babyface but in the end they turn her heel with this awful 'wrestling is fake but I'm real' nonsense. So now they have two fully fledged heels, and one babyface who is constantly injured, and I don't even know for sure what the match is going to be, who's going to be in it and who's going to be champion.

What they should have done? Becky tells Ronda she's coming for her title on Raw, and they have a stand off. But then on Smackdown, Charlotte does the full heel turn and insists Becky stole her Rumble win. One McMahon gets involved as an impartial authority figure, merely to set up Becky vs Charlotte at Fastlane, for the right to face Ronda.

And if they'd just had the balls to tell Ronda, 'the fans will boo you, against Becky. So you're turning heel' then she never would have been so desperate on social media. And to cement her turn, they could have given her a match against someone at either Elimination Chamber or Fastlane, then had her beat them down afterwards, needlessly and vindictively.

That keeps Becky and Ronda apart, and focused on other things, while also giving Charlotte room to be the heel she's become. Then they would have from now until Wrestlemania to build a big fight feel, for the two women squaring off.

Becky punching Stephanie after being suspended and refusing to go to the doctor. She should've just punched her and then got suspended. Becky getting suspended for not wanting to go to the doctor for no reason was total bullshit. They made Becky look dumb and became even dumber when she saw the doctor the next week anyway making her suspension and punching Steph and slapping HHH pointless. WWE made it worse by making Stephanie not a heel and made Becky look like she screwed herself. Becky had 2 months to get healthy but for no reason at all makes it hard on herself by not going to the doctor. They cleared you already Becky for TLC you idiot. If they really were out to get you they would've stripped you ass of the title after the concussion. So in this storyline if Becky just went to the doctor when WWE wanted her to after the Rumble Becky vs Ronda would still be on and Becky wouldn't still be injured since Charlotte is not there to re injure Becky's leg. Great Job WWE by making your most over babyface look like a idiot hot head.


Becky looks stupid and a self sabotager which is funny since HHH said that and for some reason loved Becky the next week and now HHH and Vince disappeared from this mess. This injury is literally killing this feud and killing Becky's momentum. Almost 2 months since the injury happened(a weak push off steel steps lol) and Becky has somehow got injured more the last 6 weeks. So basically WWE wants people to think Becky is injury prone and does have a fragile body that can't heal form a injury that WWE themselves said wasn't serious and she did this all to herself. Conclusion: WWE are the worst and they can't book a babyface(hence why Becky got over when they tried to make her heel)

I think Becky winning the rumble was fine. Then she could have said "I hurt my knee but I'm gonna rest up and hopefully make it to WM". You even could have Ronda turn heel earlier by smashing up Becky's knee worse. Then you could keep Becky off TV for a couple of weeks to keep her fresh and avoid all of the Austin rip off arrests and suspensions etc. Maybe some rehab videos or sit down interviews etc. Ronda can keep wrecking the Riott Squad or whatever and not caring about "you people".

Charlotte could have said "I was the last woman in the Rumble and Becky shouldn't have been in it". A legitimate complaint, but if she does it in a whiny way then it's easy heel stuff. If you need to fill some weeks then you could even have Lana complain about having HER spot taken and have Charlotte beat the f*** out of her since they love beat down heat.

Then if the McMahons HAVE to get involved, you have Vince/Steph force an injured Becky to wrestle at Fastlane, where if CHARLOTTE wins then she's added to the match but if Becky wins then it's one on one.

Then you have an injured Becky forced to compete to save her match but Charlotte beats her with a figure 8 where Becky holds on forever but eventually taps cos she's crippled and logically thinks that a triple threat is better than being too injured to compete at all. This would make the triple threat AND give Charlotte a win against Becky for once (but she was injured so it's not "fair") AND have the Royal Rumble actually mean something AND avoid Ronda wanting to stack the deck against herself by insisting Becky is in AND give the McMahons some bad guy air time.

Their need to overbook everything was where it started, so I guess that'd be Becky's suspension and adding Charlotte to the match. Making Becky apologize only to rip away the match from her was stupid. You can do the apology, which I didn't love anyway, or take her out of the match temporarily, doing both was too much.

"Reinjuring" Becky's knee was the next major mistake, in my mind. Because at that point we're just spinning our wheels doing the same thing we've already done. Once she was cleared, we should've moved past the injury stuff. Because now she's wrestling on a fake bum knee and a crutch, it's dumb.

Most egregious of all is this dumb Ronda "it's fake" shit. In theory, Ronda's a heel because "You all wanted this storyline to be good? Well now I'm going to ruin the storyline!" Verbatim, because she's acknowledging it's a story.

The first two combined give you a sour taste. The third one on it's own completely trashes what you're going for.

So yeah, this storyline is kind of ruined. Does that ruin Becky Lynch: Main Eventer? To me, hell no. But the storyline? Yeah, it's dead. Let's just get through Mania and move on.

Charlotte beating down Ronda after their match was the first mistep. Match was fine, but Ronda should have won clean, and the feud with Becky writes itself. But nope. Gotta keep the Spawn of Flair strong.

And this was solidified lastnight because I have brought it up multiple times that not one single time during this entire complicated process have they aknowleged Beckyw winning the rumble , not once have they made any aknowledgement in story to say...we are taking the rumble win away but she is made to jump through all these hoops...making an Injured Becky look like a total dumbass by agreeing to jump through all the hoops when she could pull a stone cold and just out smart the situation securing her place at Mania.

Adding the McMahons already overcomplicated it more than it had to be. Everything else that's happened with the leg injury and Ronda being absolutely awful has just made it all even more of a mess. Even Charlotte's inclusion still feels really forced and out of place, even though at this point you might as well just swap her in and swap Ronda out as a mercy kiling.

Yeah, they didn't need Charlotte here AT ALL. Ronda as the "corporate's choice" heel (something a lot of people already buy into) vs. Becky's natural rise as a top face would've been great on its own.
