They could explain that Thanos wiping out half the life in the universe has somehow triggered an acceleration in evolution, thus creating the X-gene. The popular theory is that they'll use the Earth X origin for mutants, with the Celestials tinkering with human DNA. Makes sense, since the Celestials will be part of the upcoming Eternals movie, they can set up mutants in that movie and either close out Phase Four with an X-Men movie or launch Phase Five with it.

The difference with cap is that he's always a man out of time and resurrected decades after the war ended and most of his friends are dead. Plus the idea that its been 75 years since the Holocaust. Whats Magneto been doing for the length of time of an average mans life before deciding to become a terrorist. As the mutant population bomb goes off the talk of registration and such sets him off.

CNBC have made a very good point - most of the next Phase is likely taking place in the past: - Black Widow: set around 15 years before Endgame - The Eternals: likely to take place over a 10,000 year period. - Captain Marvel 2: probably a direct follow up to the first movie, late-'90s/early-'00s. - Gurdians of the Galaxy 3: rumour was it at least partly covers the four years between the second movie and Infinity War. That would leave Far From Home, Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2, and Shang-Chi as the post-Endgame movies.

Captain Pedantic here, but that particular aspect was around long before the Earth X stories. The Celestials implanting the dormant X-gene in humanity way back when has been part of Marvel canon since the 80s. I'm only noting this because I loathe the Earth X storyline (cool art, but horrendous story) and I refuse to let it have credit for any actual ideas it doesn't deserve to have credit for.

Doom's time is coming. Mark my words. He's been in Latveria watching all this Thanos nonsense, and horrific portrayals of himself in terrible F4 adaptations. It's all Richards' fault!! RIIIIIIIICHAAAAAAARDSSSSSSS!

Acts Of Vengeance
For villains, I wouldn't mind seeing Graviton get some screen time.

I'd personally like to see the MCU stop writing all their heroes as cliched one-line spouting smartasses. Like, when they actually have the heroes show some serious depth, or they don't immediately cut the tension with a punchline, the movies get better.

Unless your name is Spider Man Right, there are exceptions. Like Spidey, Stark and the GOTG. But I'm so tired of everyone being a comedian in these movies.

Kevin Feige on the X-Men: I think I'm alright with this. We just had X-men rebooted and recast for several movies that I'd like to see a span of time before a new cast and movie, otherwise we're back to where we are with Spider-Man.

Comedy works with Stark, Spidey, Guardians, and Ant-Man. The thing is Marvel has developed a formula that has garnered them monumental success. They're not going to change what isn't broken.

The fact it's often comedic made the end of the last movie even more hard hitting, because no one was joking when they realised what Thanos had done.

Potential Endgame spoilers: {Spoiler} Makes sense. Hemsworth is desperate to make another with Taika, Ragnarok and Infinity War was really the making of Thor, there's clearly more story to be told and with the MCU starting to introduce a ton more cosmic characters it would make a lot of sense to keep Thor around (plus who wouldn't want to see a Thor-Korg-Rocket movie?). Probably the only reason it's not been unofficially confirmed thus far is because they want to keep the fate of Thor in Endgame a secret.
