Admittedly I haven't watched in many moons, but the Kofi segment with the gauntlet match announcement was on my YouTube homepage. So I watched it and they go down the list of people he has to beat. When they got to Rowan as the dramatic last guy I started laughing. Poor Ol Rowan.

Of course. None of the others have merited a singles match against the Rock at Wrestlemania.

I think the impression they were going with was, he’s this massive brute of a guy. “Kofi’s got his work cut out for him now!”
It didn’t work cause we all know Rowan is a goober.

I liked it for an admittedly stupid reason. Growing up, I was a huge "Streets of Rage 2" fan. In the final level, you had to fight all of the bosses from the previous levels in route to fighting the final boss, Mr. X. Before you fought him, you fought his bodyguard, Shiva. I viewed Rowan as the Shiva to Bryan's Mr. X.

E and Woods should lightly chop Kofi during every match of the gauntlet, so he wins by DQ, and then wreck his opponents.

To be fair it was directly following making Rowan look like a monster in the tag match by having him demolish Owens then be the one to pin Ali.

Good for him. I like ol' Big Red, pleased he's getting the push of being Bryan's intellectual equal.

Seeing a perennial main eventer for the last 15 years, the current US Champion, and maybe the most successful tag team of the last few years ago all get treated as inferior and lower in the pecking order then a guy who has been pretty much a total goon his whole whole career was really odd and also quite hilarious. It got even better in the brawl that followed where Rowan was the one that New Day had trouble with and really had work together to get rid of after they had easily disposed of all the other guys. I get that he's physically the biggest and he's associated with Bryan but still. Never less I hope they have him as the "Final Boss" in the gauntlet match to continue this baffling trend of them treating Erick Rowan as a bigger star then Randy Orton lol.

Rowan has to be the last guy so Bryan will be at ringside supporting him when Kofi beats him and gets his shot. (Assuming that's the order of the matches).

Look, Jinder Mahal won a number one contenders match against Rowan, Harper, Ziggler, Rawley and Zayn. Compared to that, this gauntlet is the most credible collection of WWE title contenders in human history.

I was under the impression the stipulation was that Kofi had to beat everyone to get the shot, but I didn’t think there was a title shot at stake for everyone else.

Rowan's been built up pretty well since he's teamed with Bryan to the point where he's a legit big man that makes sense. You remember when The Bludgeon Brothers was running through dudes a year ago for no reason and it didn't make any sense? Well, luckily it makes sense here.

I mean, you're probably right, I didn't watch. It'd be kind of odd if there wasn't something beneficial for everyone else, though. Like, if Rowan wins, Bryan gets the night off or something.

So there has to be a ton of shenanigans here, right? Like they enlist the help of some babyfaces, or E and Woods gingerly "attack" Kofi to cause DQ's like I mentioned earlier.
They can't play this straight.. Well, they can.. Suddenly super Kofi would be lame.

They have actually been doing a good job putting over Rowan as a monster and dangerous bodyguard, I like it

I find it funnier that "18 seconds" Sheamus and Randy "Summerslam 2013" Orton are basically playing lackeys for World Champion Daniel Bryan.
