TNA pretty much did this with Beer Money in TNA. Bobby Roode won a tournament to face Kurt Angle for the World Title at Bound For Glory, then lost. Then James Storm won the title in like thirty seconds on the next Impact. The only difference was is that Bobby won the title on the next Impact after that by turning heel.
