Fun Fact: In 2003, I actually did apply to get a SaveDisney bumper sticker during that time.
I never got it.

I know he does his thing and it works for him, but damn I'd love to see Defunctland do just a history of Disneyland/Disney World like a documentary. Dude is an ace historian.

Went to Hong Kong Disneyland just last year. Yeah I can imagine the place being pretty disappointing if it didn’t have Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Manor and The Iron Man Expierence.
It’s does have Toy Story Land but it’s basically a micro version of the one at Hollywood Studios. The rides are pretty basic.

I've heard that Mystic Manor is the best take on the Haunted Mansion type ride in any of the parks. Definitely want to hit the global Disney parks one day.

Man, that use of Dreamfinder and Figment at the end hit me right in the feels. "And what about science...?"
It really is sad: Eisner was pretty damned creative for an executive type, and his early theme park moves, while not always great, at least felt motivated by a creative impulse. The Iger era of Disney Parks has, on the other hand, produced a few hits, but largely feels lazy and uninspired on the US side fo things, with the consistent credo seeming to be "slap a pre-existing intellectual property on it!" rather than trying truly daring and bold stuff that WED Enterprises/Imagineering was known for during the golden era.

I found Hong Kong Disney to be pretty fun. You only need to go there for one day and can do pretty much everything. The Toy Story land in Hong Kong predates the one in the US by several years. And yeah, the Mystic Manor is really fun!

I do find it really funny how Perjurer mentions Eisner being said to be concerned for his legacy, when Perjurer's definitely helped bring a lot of eyes to Eisner's failures.
That being said, I do feel like he's pretty even-handed in this video. Kevin doesn't seem like he's just wholly shitting on him or anything here, and I feel like in his videos, he tends to acknowledge factors outside of Eisner's hands, while still not letting him off the hook for oversights or repeated mistakes.

Seeing the age of Disney i grew up in though these videos and an adults eyes is an experience. I am wholly a Disney kid been to the American parks double digits of times at this point. It's completely fascinating

I'd like to visit and see through an adult's eyes someday, but I'm not very inclined to go by myself, so it'll probably just be one of those where I wait for the right opportunity and company.

Mentions that Eisner owns the production company that makes “Bojack Horseman” .. which features an episode where Todd makes a really cheap version of Disneyland. Which is what Eisner did

Was in Hong Kong back in 2015.
I felt Ocean Park was the much better theme park personally.

Was in Hong Kong back in 2017. I felt Ocean Park was the much better theme park personally. I did too.. mainly for the zoo part. Never seen a live Walrus before. Only went on a few of the rides though. Not really a thrill ride fan.
