Never had one growing up, and I only started driving a couple years ago because I had seizure issues. So.. I don't know anything. I'm trying to learn, but it's a slow process for me. I'll probably be bumping this thread pretty often with questions. Hopefully there are some mechanics here. First question is about labor costs. I need two front struts installed (03 Cavalier, and I'm purchasing them myself). What's a fair price range for that job, assuming there aren't any unforseen issues? I'm trying not to get gouged since it's obvious when I walk into a garage that I don't know shit about shit.

Well I'm 35 and I've never driven a single thing in my life.

Well I'm 35 and I've never driven a single thing in my life. I can teach you a few things if you'd like! Right pedal go. Left pedal no go.

Labor would probably run you a couple hundred plus a few hundred for the parts if that's all they're doin. With that there might be larger issues that could cost more. You might ask for some estimates first. If you know of a smaller operation-shade tree mechanic kinda guy that'll probably be cheaper. I've got a dude that does most of the work on my truck and he's usually cheaper on labor than say a Midas or whatever.
But then back in college I had a buddy of mine replace my spark plugs and wires on one of my other trucks for a case of beer haha.
Sometimes I live right into the Southern stereotype

I've been driving for 20 years, and still don't know anything about cars. I just don't give a shit about them aside from being a means of transportation.
