I remember there was a toy line from the 1990 Dick Tracy film. Forget the company responsible. Remember my Dad getting me Pruneface cause the figures were heavily discounted.. cause the film was a bomb. Anyway Pruneface came with a dynamite plunger. Often figures in the line.. if I recall was Dick Tracy without his jacket, and I did not see this one in the discount basket but saw it in a pic on the back of the box “The Blank” and if you remember the twist in the movie it’s actually a figure based on a character Madonna played. I still have all of them, except Mumbles and The Blank. I looked EVERYWHERE for them as a kid. Apparently The Blank wasn't made or was very limited because of the twist. But yeah, I wonder why they made Shoulders and The Rodent when they're literally gunned down in the first ten minutes. I also had all the Food Fighters, a few Snaliens, and three new He-Man guys. He-Man, Skeletor, and the guy who had an eyeball for a head. Anybody remember InHumanoids? I had the giant green monster and the weird bird skeleton whose ribcage opened up. I had a ton of Army Ants too. And G.U.T.S. guys. God, I miss being a kid.

Inhumanoids was supposed to be part of the Hasbro Universe thing going on but there's some legal issues going on and they got pulled from it. Tendril is the green plant guy, D'Compose is the skeleton monster.

My parents used to buy me the cheapest of bargain bin toys as stocking stuffers so I actually have a lot of the toys mentioned here, probably from when they were left for dead after being failures. Had the boneage things, though I don't remember them coming with a caveman, but he may have just been tossed into a box immediately.... Why would you want to play with that loser when you have the sweet dinosaur skeletons?
I liked Blackstar as a kid, and for some reason my mom really liked it too so she went buck wild buying those. And my dad was big into strange tech related toys so we had all the Captain Powers stuff (And Lazer Tag, cause everyone back then wanted that)... The tapes are still upstairs but I'm afraid most of the action figures met their demise at the hands of a pellet gun.
But of the stuff mentioned, Z Bots were my jam. My older brother was big into battletech, so Z Bots were a cool thing to design new mechs after (And then you could use the figures on the map). The pictured green guy with white cowel was made out of the strangest plastic though, he literally melts with age (At least on my red/white version of him). The best one as their sorta ball shaped guy with guns for arms and a slit with two dots in it for eyes. Man, Micromachines used to be soooo cool. You had neat Z bots (some of the later lines though... woof), awesome star trek and star wars lines (And the Babylon 5 line... To this day I wish I had found them all), and cool military stuff. The new Star Wars line ones are so cheap they hurt... Though I still collect them if I see them, which isn't often.

I have some Karate Kid, Madball figures, and Visionaries somewhere still.
Does the Police Academy line count as semi-obscure? I remember mailing away for 3 Captain Harris figures but getting 2 Hang Gliding Zed's and an Stakeout Sweetchuck instead. I never saw the 2nd series of figures in stores though.

Burt Reynolds had an action figure? Cool! Funny that you make that joke, because from the same company that brought us The Wrangler: Hah! That’s excellent - I liked how the same company just had ‘Colt’ for Colt Seavers from ‘The Fall Guy’.

I think this is pretty obscure- the early 90's He-Man line of figures based on The New Adventures Of He-Man cartoon that only lasted a season: Oh my god I had those! He man always got beaten up by my Batman haha.

And I got the precinct for Christmas. Man, really digging the late 80s-early 90s toys with you guys. I don't know how obscure SilverHawks are. Like the space Thundercats. I had a bunch of those. Biker Mice from Mars. I got a bunch of toys in the winter of 1994 because we had a huge blizzard, and school was cancelled for like almost two weeks. My mom didn't want me and my sister driving her crazy, so she took us to the toy store when the snow stopped for a while. Haha. *edit* Ok, I need help on a name. Early 90s, I think. It was a toy line where you got two figures in a pack. You got two because the arms, legs, and heads came off so you could create weird figures. For example, the one I had came with a vampire and a swamp creature looking thing. I think it was just all kinds of random figures, but I feel like "Swappers" or something might have been in the name. Driving me crazy thinking of the name.

In the mid-80s, a line of action figures for girls centered around a the adventures of a glamorous blonde warrior princess. Along with her glamorous warrior friends, she protected her beloved kingdom from evil, demonic forces.
I'm of course, referring to this:

I maintain that Captain Power could have been one of the most brilliant toys lines ever. The toys were great, the designs were great, and the idea of having toys that could interact with the live action show were a great hook. It's a shame the whole thing never took off. The whole thing was ahead of it's time. My parents got a bunch of the toys on discount from Ames when the line died out, I loved having Power's spaceship.

Do you know if they got into trouble for that one? Because man, they're barely trying to hide that they're ripping off He-Man there. They're not even using some variation on the Galaxy Warriors body or anything, I feel like they might actually have bootlegged the He-Man moulds. Also, wow, an 80's thing that actually uses that pink and blue grid thing with starry background that you see in every single "love letters to the 80's".

It does look a bit like He-Man but not enough where they could be sued, I don't think.
