I just realized Holly Holm was in a Mountain Dew commercial. Really!? Of all the UFC stars they have to choose from they pick the Buster Douglas of this generation.

With all due respect to him for having a solid 10-year NFL career with four Pro Bowl appearances, those Geico ads featuring Brian Orakpo interacting with the caveman were just so odd to me.
He had a pretty good NFL career but it was so strange to me that a non-household-name linebacker for a middle-of-the-road franchise got a national ad campaign.

Eddie The Eagle Edwards in anything post-1988 Olympics. He made his name after being literally the worst competitor in his sport. Although he remains the only Olympian in the modern era to be namechecked by the President in the closing speech.

Tim Tebow Harold Miner-Once called "Baby Jordan" and treated like a future star to be.Despite being a good dunker he only spent 4 years in the NBA and was an injury plagued bench player. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQAJem2o1Kc

That was fantastic, talking about how much of an inspiration he was.... then changing the rules so that could NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN I'd say Eddie was at least notable. For me it's, what? C? D? - List 90's footballer Jason McAteer, on his own, not as part of a team with bigger names around him, just him.

I wouldn't say Holm is the Buster Douglas of MMA, She legit lost to Tate and Shevchenko, got screwed in her loss to De Randmanie and went up in weight class in her loss to Justino. She's fighting Nunes for the title in July. She's still relevent in MMA, as oppsed to Douglas who fell of the face of the earth after the Tyson fight. I would say Peyton Hillis being the on the cover of Madden. He had one good year, was completely out of Football four years later.

I would say Peyton Hillis being the on the cover of Madden. He had one good year, was completely out of Football four years later. Yeah, Holm was legit. Not a star, but she had a solid career. Douglas was a complete journeyman who finally lived up to his potential for 8 rounds, and then faded back to obscurity. He did beat Trevor Berbick by a decision, but mostly a hollow record beating up a lot of tomato cans and avoiding most of the better competition. Hillis is a fun one. All the other cover athletes are HOFers. Then there's Culpepper who shredded his knee and was never the same. VY, who was a Heisman winner and mostly sucked after his solid rookie year. And then Hillis, who was a fullback at Arkansas (albeit, a very good one) and then got a shot after some injuries and had one ridiculous season and dropped like a stone. Jeremy Lin had a couple commercials, and Linsanity only occurred for a very short time. Overall, he's spent most of his career either on the bench or injured despite being an efficient player. Dontrelle Willis had finished 2nd in the Cy voting with 22 wins, won a World Series, and was at the forefront of the MLB trying to hit different demos. He would go on to only have 26 more career wins, pitching rather horribly until being DFA'd and never returning. His "funky" delivery, which was his trademark and made him standout, was his undoing as control problems plagued the rest of his career.

Peter McNeely got a Pizza Hut commercial poking fun at his non-existent chin after the Tyson debacle/set-up.

But how many people remember Uecker even played? Most people know him from Mr. Belvedere, Major League, and broadcasting. I've met him a few times. Really nice guy. 😊

Jim Thome, Sandy Alomar, John Smoltz, etc. But I always have to keep from freaking out when Bob "By God" Uecker shows up. I just want to ask him questions and get him to say every line from Major League. lol.
