Because I just have.
Tried, patiently at first, then increasingly infuriatedly, to play a particular match in FIFA 19.
Each time, I'm playing as Man City (my career mode), and I'm up against Aston Villa. Each time I can only score once, despite having 30-40 shots on target, hitting the bar, post, saved by the keeper, multiple times.
Then Aston Villa score just before the 85th minute.
7 times.
Each time, the gameplay is different of course, but I'm convinced it's a scripted event.
I'm well aware of FIFA players talking about "scripting" or "momentum", but this is just ridiculous.
Are all EA Sport games this stupid??

It’s just a game.

The closest I came was when I was trying to beat Seth with Dan in Street Fighter IV. I threw my controller in frustration and I'm glad the room was carpeted, so it was okay. If it was a solid floor, it might not have gone so well lol.

I've worn out the analog stick in at least two N64 controllers, but never have I destroyed or even damaged a controller in a fit of rage.

Couple times. Offhand I had this cheap-ass PS2 Mortal Kombat controller and tossed it aside when frustrated at point, side cracked open. At another point with my Wii U Gamepad I had to replace it because I accidentally smacked the top of it with my elbow in frustration due to hours upon hours of idiot teammates in Splatoon and it managed to shatter the screen.

No, but I admit I've slammed an NES controller down onto carpeted floor once or twice when I was a kid (under 12 years old).

Yes. But not because of a game. For whatever reason both the controllers I had for my PS3 would do this annoying thing where they would start to act like a button is being permanently pressed (Usually one of the right shoulders). Would skip entire episodes in series of crap I was in the middle of watching, screw up movies by uncontrollably fast forwarding or sometimes rewinding if they so much as had a light breeze go over them. You could sometimes get it to stop by shaking the controllers, but then after you took the time to get back to where you were if you bumped the table the thing was sitting on it would do something else stupid (Or the very act of putting the thing down as gently as possible). Keep in the mind this was with barely any use, since I mainly used my PS3 as a blu-ray player and streaming box, partially because they did this pretty much out of the box.
Anyways, I figured since they were broken anyways I tore one in two and crushed the other one with my hands. Doing so did bring a little bit of joy, I did hate them so (I did put up with it for years, I didn't do it immediately after the first time they malfunctioned). I also kept the little motors for the rumble feature to use for little tinker projects. Now I use a mouse to use the PS3 and have vowed to never buy another Sony console because of them.

I mean, I've had analog sticks stop working over time, but I've never thrown a controller due to a game being hard. Take a walk and breathe, y'know?

Closest was I accidentally spilled coffee on a PS4 v2 controller (that’s not the official name, it’s the one with the coloured line light in the touchpad). Thought I dried it good, but when I went to use it next the buttons would not press and recoil up properly.

I had the rubber fall off of the left analog stick on one of my wireless Switch controllers (The 8Bit Do SNES30 controller to be exact.) But this wasn't of out of frustration this was due to normal wear and tear.

I've tossed one onto a bed, but I am too much of a cheapskate to rage throw things.
I've broken controllers by wearing them down, but no throwing. Had 3 brothers growing up, they'd have been royally pissed.

The boss in Metropolis Zone of Sonic 2 was 6-year-old me's worst enemy. I smashed the ever loving shit out of that controller because I just could not figure out how to beat that damn thing. Then, 15 years later, I revisited the game and beat it without much effort, pissing off the kid in me even more.
