MLW is good, but there’s a LOT of heat. They need a consistent ace, and I don’t mean Romero or Austin. I guess right now it’s Filthy Tom for the time being, but they push their top heels like MJF, Low-Ki, De La Renta’s crew, the Contra and Callahan harder than everyone else, with beat downs every week over all the other babyfaces. They need that Hogan/Cena figure that can “save the day” for shows, or an alliance that can fight all of these heels off. Aside from that, it’s a simple and fun wrestling product that tends to be both exciting and logical. It looks like Mance Warner may be getting that push as the top face

My worry with MLW is that BeIN Sports may pull out of America because no major provider will carry the channel due to alleged corruption. Where I live, Spectrum carries it on a sports tier with channels like CBS Sports Network and smaller channels like that. They have no problem carrying it as an extra, but putting on their basic lineup probably won't happen anytime soon. That's not a knock on them, as even networks like Turner Classic Movies and OWN are on tiers instead of the basic package. (Although ironically, they finally added Pop to the basic lineup after Impact stopped airing.)

I watched the Battle Riot show on FreeSports last week and, I hate to sound like Jim Cornette, but I had a big problem with the garbage wrestling in the World Championship match. Was that just a one off type of match that I was unfortunate to see in my first show or does MLW often do stuff like that? MLW puts on hardcore matches pretty regularly, but it's fairly rare to see one go that far. I expected it, since it's Jimmy Havoc and he's known for that.

Where MLW gets it is that they're not looking for you to make a massive commitment when watching them, since we're just talking about a weekly one-hour YouTube show (or BeIn, if you get it) and an occasional two-hour special here and there, so they keep their booking pretty straightforward, simple, and relatively old school, which can be pretty damn refreshing sometimes.
Granted it also means that you're not likely going to get a lot of epic matches due to the time constraints, but it's fun to see a lot of top indy talent getting a platform like that, and they do a good job of booking just about everyone they use consistently to feel important and to look like they belong there. I do think they sometimes go a bit far with some of the major finisher spots not ending matches (feels like nobody should be able to walk after taking the Hart Foundation's finisher), but the basic structure of the show is sound.

Aside from that, it’s a simple and fun wrestling product that tends to be both exciting and logical. Here's my theory: we're gonna get some sort of 4 way team brawl between The Dynasty, Hart Foundation, Contra and Promociones Dorado.

I'm going to give some more of their weekly shows a try and just skip any future hardcore trash/Jimmy Havok weaponry nonsense.

It's an alright show, but I still wish they'd have women's matches again.

did Court or MSL ever explain why they stopped having women's matches? Court had mentioned wanting a women's division a month ago on Twitter, but talks have gone quiet since then. Originally, they had Santana Garrett, Chelsea Green, Priscilla Kelly, Leva Bates, Lacey Lane, Su Yung, Zeda, Mia Yim, and Aria Blake as their female wrestlers. Green, Lane, and Yim signed with WWE, and Yim never had a match in MLW as far as I know. Priscilla couldn't be used anymore last year after the TV deal announcement due to her WWN contract at the time (she's now a free agent as of February 28th, and just finished with EVOLVE during WrestleMania Weekend). AEW's probably going to be where she goes next, though. Su Yung and Zeda were a tag team and attacking male wrestlers on the shows last year, but I don't think either of them had matches in the company before they vanished from MLW. Santana doesn't wrestle anywhere much besides SHINE and WOW these days, although she did lose her father not too long ago, so I understand the time off. No clue on why Leva isn't used in MLW anymore, unless it's due to the women's division not having many people left at the moment. Aria was mostly a valet in addition to wrestling once in a while, but I haven't seen her on TV lately. I guess some of this was out of MLW's control, but it's still strange that a women's match hasn't happened in a while for the promotion.

They are introducing a National Openweight Title. Similar to the Never title in New Japan

They are introducing a National Openweight Title. Similar to the Never title in New Japan Good idea; they're a promotion with a lot of talent coming in and out at various times, not a bad plan to have a belt that can be won by people who might just be stopping there for a cup of coffee, rather than feeding them to the World or Middleweight champions.

I wonder, should there be a Middleweight Championship? Maybe I'm over thinking it, but Low-Ki was Heavyweight Champion and he's 185lbs at best.

I sort of feel like if you're going to have a title like that, maybe there should be a couple of unique rules for its matches. Which at this point, may be tough, considering that Filthy Tom is the Heavyweight champion now, and he's been having matches where the rules are ultra-relaxed with the likes of Sami Callihan and Jimmy Havoc...

I get the feeling that the National Openweight Title is going on Hammerstone first. He seems like he's being positioned as a future star, but pushing him to their World heavyweight title so quickly would get him that X-Pac 2001 heat, and he's too big in size for the Middleweight title.
