I've heard people say that they don't remember much before they were in school-I have one friend that claims he can't remember anything before the third grade. Seriously?
I'm not sure what my earliest memory is, but I'm thinking it was either my third birthday or right around and hiding in a box at home and jumping up when my parents came home.
I certainly remember my old house which we moved out of when I was almost 4.
How about everyone else? I'm sure the average person at least remembers when they were three right?

I've always had really good long term memory and really poor short term memory. I often joke with my friends that I can remember things from when I was only a year old, but I can't remember what I did yesterday afternoon.
People don't believe me when I tell them that I remember things from when I was only a year or two old, but I do. My earliest memories are from a trip we took to visit my aunt and uncle in Corpus Christi when I was 13 months old. I specifically remember trying to climb on my cousin's skateboard in the living room of their apartment, my dad showing me part of a dead shark washed up on the beach, and sitting with my mom and aunt on a beach towel with Stayin' Alive playing on the radio.
Other early memories include being fascinated by a cactus plant growing in the front yard of the house we lived in until I was close to two years old, sitting in my high chair in the dining room of our new house while my mom reprimanded my dad for letting me drink soda instead of juice or water, playing with the neighbor's dog, visiting my mom in the hospital while pregnant with my younger brother, and my brother's crib being delivered to the house. All of those had to be from before I was three, because I was two-and-a-half when my brother was born, and we moved again not long after that.

Earliest stuff I could remember, not sure of my age but it was before I was in elementary school. Maybe pre-school. I remember eating fried chicken. There was ketchup, and that's probably why I really like fried chicken, but who doesn't? I also remember eating isaw-isaw, the chicken BBQed intestines. Perhaps due to how it looked; skewered on a stick with the intestines on a curvy zig-zag pattern. Also, there was soda in a bottle. It was green. I realize that I have lots of food memories.
Also, first car in our family was a jeep. Like, it had a roof, but no side or back doors though it did have curtains, no automatic window wipers, and no AC, just a little fan. I remember watching Disney's Robin Hood and 101 Dalmatians, and I think I freaked out watching Aladdin in a movie theater during the scene where Aladdin's escaping from the cave and there's all that lava melting everything.
Also tried shaving to imitate my dad. I got some cuts, apparently.

My family also moved to a new home when I was 3 and I remember us living with my grandparents before that.
We were then temporarily flooded out of that home when I was 4 and I definitely remember that.

Also remember at the time we had a Famicom, though it was simply called Family Computer. And the old Game Boy. The cover for the battery slot was missing. I remember playing Mario, and Tetris, and Battle City. I liked Battle City.

My earliest memory is waking up on the couch not knowing how I got there. I had fallen off my bike and hit my head. I knew who I was and who my parents were and stuff like that, but could not recall any actual events of my life, and to this day still can't.

I have vague memories of the 1st house I lived in (lived in an apartment when I was born, we moved soon after); we moved out of there when I was 4. Still remember the layout fairly well, somehow.

I went to a pre-school at the end of the street in a church. They had Barrel of Monkeys. That's the extent of the earliest memories.

Not sure which of these happened first, but I was 3 both times.
Mom wakes me up to come see the deer dad had just killed. I clearly remember wearing a red tweety shirt and going out and seeing a huge 8 point dad had got.
Again I am 3. My mother is at a Tupperware party. My cousin was spending the weekend with us. Dad and my cousin want to go see Texas Chainsaw Massacre at the drive in. Dad figures since the movie starts at 9 I will fall asleep on the drive over. I clearly remember seeing Leatherface hanging the woman on the hook. And the dance he does at the end of the film.

My memories from when I was a toddler were VERY scattered, I don't remember much before kindergarten-- learning to write is my most clear memory. Though I do remember at some family gathering, I was maybe 2 and we were on some farm, and I guess there were apples on the ground so I picked one up and threw it... just to hit my grandfather in the back of the head, then got very upset about it. He was ok though.

Funny enough, my earliest memory is when I became a wrestling fan. I remember a match between Ric Flair and Lex Luger. I think it may have been a steel cage match. Anyway, my dad was watching a tape that a friend of his had recorded for him. They start hitting each other and I ran out of the room screaming and crying. This 4 or 5 year old had just seen two grown men trying to kill each other! My dad sat me on his lap and explained that it was all "for play" and the two men were not trying to hurt each other for real. He pointed out how they pulled their punches and pretended to hurt one another. In one match, I went from afraid to a huge fan.

I was only a few years old, probably. But I remember sitting on our family dog, Woody (a tubby basset hound with fur that was red like oak wood, hence his name) thinking I could ride him like a horse. He didn’t show much enthusiasm for the idea.

The earliest thing I can think of is my dad waking me up in late 1985 (i was 7) telling me the Bears lost to the Dolphins. I remember crying. LOL I remember bits and pieces of stuff like kindergarten, but nothing really tangible.

I reckon I was about two, as my sister wasn’t there and she’s three years younger than me. I was the back seat of a car which had broken down and was being pushed by my parents. My granddad was in the passenger seat and I said something like ‘We’re going, Granddad!’, to which he turned and smiled.
Without meaning to sound morbid, this is the only memory I have of him as he died soon after. Maybe that’s why it’s stuck with me.

It was probably having a sip of beer from a red cup from my brother who passed when I was like 2. Only memory I have of him but I'm glad it involved beer as I do enjoy them today.

Playing in mud.
I found the picture years later, way before pre-school and me in my underwear and a t shirt just all smiles playing in mud.
And I always just remembered in that moment how I loved the texture and fluidity of the mud water. Weird shit.

My first solid memory is being home during an armed home invasion when I was 3. They hogtied my mom, stepdad, and my stepdad's brother, destroyed the house, and threatened to kidnap me if they did not get what they wanted. This went on for some time.
The most jarring thing to me was when one of them turned over the couch and it hit me. He actually apologized, like that was the only thing he did wrong that evening. It struck me as odd even then.
