I've been meaning to grab a One on the cheap for awhile... but to me this feels utterly pointless. If you want to make a budget version of the console then actually do it, IE, cut out the pointless 4K support so you can sell the thing for somewhere comparable to the price to just buy an original-model One.

I don't think it is worth saving 50 bucks for me.

“Xbox SAD” is kind of an unfortunate name, though...

“Xbox SAD” is kind of an unfortunate name, though... Is it more unfortunate than the fact that Nintendo actually once had an official department known as "Nintendo EAD"?

I’d be interested in this, my XBOne is getting a little long in the tooth and the disc drive is sketching out. But I own 6 or 7 disc games, so I’d want some sort of upgrade system. I’d gladly mail in my discs in exchange for download codes.
With proper high speed coming to my town soon, combined with the fact that even on shitty internet most of my game purchases are now digital, I’m not at all opposed to an all digital system.

Yeah, I’ll just buy a Refurbished edition for $150, thank you.

XBOX SAD is what I feel when I remember that it's impossible to download Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and its DLC because of digital-only media being ephemeral.

$50 isn't worth missing out on disc-based games as well as backwards compatibility with my disc-based 360 and OG Xbox games. No Xbox SAD! for me.

I have no desire for a games console that I can’t buy the games for. Is it not in the agreement on digital downloads that they can just take it off you at any point? And You don’t actually own anything?

I have no desire for a games console that I can’t buy the games for. Is it not in the agreement on digital downloads that they can just take it off you at any point? And You don’t actually own anything? They can’t forcibly remove it from your HDD, but if you delete it, there’s no guarantee it will still be available on the store to re-download. But I’m sure there’s easy ways around that if you legitimately have the license attached to your console.
