On the flip side, that does technically mean you side with MJF on something. I'm really digging MJF ignoring all his character traits because he loves Cody. I'd love to see a really slow build to MJF turning on him. The fact he was still kind of a dick to people checking on Cody and pushing them away was really nice character work on his end.

The guy is so switched on to the character, it's so good for his age. It'll be interesting to see how much he can get the crowd to boo him during his segments week after week.

Spears has stated that he'll give his reasons for attacking Cody, if he is granted a sitdown interview with Jim Ross. I hope he explains that he’s sick of his pop star mom going through her own mental breakdowns and neglecting him growing up.

ITV put out a promotional image for next week's show, and the only two wrestlers on it that don't have matches announced yet are Britt Baker and Bea Priestley, so I think they'll be wrestling each other on the show.

Only looks to be 6 or 7 matches for it given the lack of card updates so far.

This Spears/Cody feud is definitely going to be chock full of WWE references. I'd be very, very surprised if it doesn't go down the "you promised me it'd be different here" route.

This Spears/Cody feud is definitely going to be chock full of WWE references. I'd be very, very surprised if it doesn't go down the "you promised me it'd be different here" route. They've laid the foundation of the feud pretty clear already. Spears thinks he is a main event level talent. Cody sees Spears as "player coach and a great hand." Those two perceptions don't quite align. What I would like to see is more focus on their time in OVW. A lot of people don't realize how important Spears was to Cody's career, so I'd love to know why these two gravitated to each other, in spite of the very different paths their careers took when they left OVW.

I'm real intrigued by the direction off of that tweet. Especially if they're willing to play into the idea there's some truth there, given that Cody's such a gray character in the first place. If they're willing to dig in and get complicated with this it could be really great stuff.

I hope by "no script" he means something along the lines of not being the guy Cody expects him to be and it's not worked shoot crap, but that tweet makes me think it'll indeed be the latter.
Also, I don't think Spears is good enough to get me invested in this program beyond a slight interest. We'll see.

I'm more inclined to think the former, him being pissed about being pigeon holed by Cody as this "good hand" type whose relevance is behind him now, and maybe going to have him say stuff like "Cody gets me to leave my cushy gig, talks it up real big, and then dismisses me when I've actually made the jump, this guy's a user". That's where I see it going, anyhow, playing up their legitimate history to play into the narrative that Cody chews up "friends/partners" and spits them out when they've outlived their usefulness or given him the boost he wants.

I don't know if anybody else feels similar but I'm...kinda not buying the Spears turn? It just feels a little too much, too fast. Yes, new company, fresh start, all that but I just got done watching dude be used as an underneath guy with a number gimmick for years. Now, he's suddenly a top heel that we're supposed to take as super dangerous? I'm sure he'll grow into the role but man, it's hitting me cold right now.

That's just ridiculous. Cody didn't toss Ted away, he happily welcomed him back to be his servant passing out paper bags to ugly people. That's called being a true friend.

I won't go that far, but I admit, while I think they might be onto something with the reasoning, it does feel quick, like you mention. He goes from acting like a face in the battle royal, to this, with too little build. Like, I get that Cody was maybe dismissive in the video where he was discussing roster guys, but they still should have had an interaction where Cody didn't make time to talk to him, something, to build to it a bit more. It does feel like a step down after Dustin, Darby, and the Bucks next, but I don't know if Shawn's meant to be a top heel, or if he's just one due to them having a relatively low number of straight-up heels right now. Jericho, MJF, and now Spears, and not really a whole lot of other people. Like, are SCU heels? I don't even really know.

The true face of friendship. (Also, we have to totally forget that Sandow pretty blatantly stabbed Cody in the back to win the honor of first ever Money in the Bank clean loser.)

Right, though in Sandow's defense, the MITB match is still every man for himself, so it was scummy, but somewhat defensible.
