Normally I pay no attention to Cornette anymore, but I will say I couldn’t help but laugh that his “wife is out of the will” if she doesn’t take him to piss on Russo’s grave.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love Jim Cornette. You don't have to agree with everything the guy says, although I tend to agree with the majority of what he does say. He's an old school carny and I have no doubt that he's turning things up to 11 for his public "character," even if he does have some anger issues in reality and I think a lot of people, wrestlers included, get played by that. I have no doubt in my mind that he probably goes home and laughs about it. He may also get caught up in it a bit, himself. I literally sprayed my drink across the room laughing while I was watching and heard him say this.

Cornette and Russo are just decade-specific equivalents of the exact same person and while one of them is more vile on a fundamental level than the other neither of them are really worth paying much attention to. Cornette when he's talking about really old crazy territory days stuff or going into history makes for some decent content, dude knows a lot and he's interesting in talking about it. Too bad it's all buried under this sort of nonsense.

It seems to be in the last few years or so that he stepped back and took a look and made the decision to do what I mentioned. I wouldn't dispute at all that the "11" personality was his ACTUAL personality at points.

Ironically, for a guy that seems to hate people in the wrestling world who are more or less 'characters' or even 'caricatures', Jim Cornette kinda is one himself.

Well he needed to become a cartoon or it was either a heart attack or jail. This f***er used to travel with a gun in the nineties because of how fans chased the heels a decade before.

Cornette definitely has some anger issues but I saw that video with Santino trying to talk to him and Cornette cussed him silly and Santino didn’t do anything about it. I don’t know what anyone else was watching but Cornette didn’t back down one bit. No actually he did
"get the f*** away from me, I'm trying to walk away from you!"
"I'm not gonna fight you!"
"Can you get him away from me, he's harassing me!!"
He acted scared till a bunch of secuirty guards showed up then he acted tough
Santino is a big guy and a legit martial artist, and Cornette still told him he didn’t respect him to his face. That Cornette called for security so he could go about his day is not at all surprising. If you’re seriously asserting he’s some sort of pussy for not fist fighting a guy considerably younger and in much better shape, thus risking legal fees and whatever money he was going to make from the convention, I don’t know what to say to you.

Santino never threatened to fight him, only said that he wasn't going to. He tried to talk to him. And Cornette cried for security.

He tried to get Cornette to apologize and Cornette told him to f*** off, then Santino blocked his exit and tried to intimidate a senior citizen.

I love that we've hit the point where Vince Russo and Jim Cornette are on cable TV essentially arguing over who gets credit for the Montreal screwjob

He's obviously playing it up, and working a little. His whole life is a perpetual work. He literally only speaks in promo. With that being said though his hate for Russo is extra entertaining, and I love listening to him rant.

Personally I find it disappointing that this tidbit that (I thought) most people knew is getting more attention than the fact that Cornette admitted the sharpshooter spot was his.

I thought that line was really funny but for the most part Cornette's hyper aggressive schtick wears fast the same way Iron Sheik's act does. I think at this point Cornette would be a far better contribution to wrestling if he put that away and got along with talent a little better. I think he's too talented as a performer to become an island to himself, so I'm really glad he's doing commentary in MLW, and I thought he was amazing on the Viceland show in the portions where he just had his wrestling historian hat on.

I want to like Jim Cornette more than I do. I don't dislike him now, but he's got this habit of perfectly encapsulating everything that's wrong in the modern product... only to shoot himself in the foot by still being stuck in 1984.
Russo is still stuck in 1996.
I do think it's very telling, though, that the best period for the WWE creatively occurred when Russo and Cornette were working together.

Cornette has learned that his outrage schtick gets him attention and makes him money. So many people send him videos that they want him to rant about. He’s selling more merch than ever because of his personality and because he’s tapped into the fans that are tired of seeing ridiculous things get attention. Cornette has become their voice. Many of those fans want to support him. They gravitate towards him because they agree with him and that makes them feel good. He’s a great storyteller and he’s funny. That’s why I listen to his podcasts. I don’t let his angry outbursts bother me because I can’t take him too seriously. It’s entertainment for the most part. Conrad and Bruce used to stage tension on their podcast to get people talking. Cornette is turning it up for that reason too. So many people love to get a rise out of others or see them lose it for whatever reason. Cornette knows that. He had a job as a wrestling manager long enough. He can act angry because that’s what people respond to. Let them think he’s really upset even if he’s not. People will give him attention and talk about him. His podcast will continue to do numbers and he will continue to get long lines at conventions. I can’t knock his hustle or see him changing if that’s what’s helping him make him money.
