Would Rick Rude's gimmick count? I mean, the girls he brought in for the "rude awakening" were consenting after all, and even the Cheryl Roberts angle was portraying him as a sleazy jerk. OTOH, he still had the most sexual gimmick in 1980s WWF.

Andrew Dice Clay and Sam Kinison. A lot of the premise of Threes Company wouldn't fly with Jack Tripper

Another that's more of a harsher in hindsight example: the SNME where Blue Blazer says he'll fly from the rafters if necessary.

I’m currently watching old episodes of Cheers, and with hindsight Sam is essentially a sex pest. He hits on every woman he sees, uses some incredibly direct lines essentially saying he wants to seduce her, has his way with her then dumps her.
For example, a recent episode had the following exchange:
Woman: ‘I’m so tired I just want to go home and fall into bed!’
Sam: ‘Why don’t I join you and break your fall? Hi, I’m Sam Malone...’
I’m not one for political correctness by any means, but seeing his antics as an adult - and in today’s climate - is a bit of a shocker.

In the middle of binging Cobra Kai, so I'm here to remind you that Johnny Lawrence is the living embodiment of this thread.
Good day.

Hannibal did a number of disguises on The A-Team that where racial stereotypes.

Hannibal did a number of disguises on The A-Team that where racial stereotypes. In that same vein I've been reading that Full House blog someone posted and Joey did a stereotypically racist impression of an Asian in a season 1 episode. I haven't read through all the blog but it wouldn't surprise me if there was more than one of Joey doing that.

Hannibal did a number of disguises on The A-Team that where racial stereotypes. He even went blackface, though at least BA called him out on that: Hannibal: You know, Black is beautiful BA: Not on you it aint!

Buzzr months ago reran The Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour for the first time in 35 years. The first episode was missing...POSSIBLY because there were Match Game questions about a school being so tough, kids played with (definitive answer was "guns"). And one about "You know you have to worry about your son when he wants to grow up to be...("a girl" was apparently the most common answer). Similar has been done to episodes of the 1973-82 MG episodes, as GSN and others banned episodes for answers that may be seen as not PC. And I came back to this thread to expand upon this, as Buzzr has shown more from the series. You still get a lot of questions/answers that would seem mean-spirited now, to say the least. Don't get me started on the running gag about Liz Taylor fat jokes. And yet, on the topic, Buzzr on the newest prints of shows it runs, mutes out the word "midget." Seen mostly on MG/HS and on regular Match Game.

Would video games where you beat up women (ie, Double Dragon, Final Fight) count?

Would video games where you beat up women (ie, Double Dragon, Final Fight) count? I don't think those would generate any more or less outrage than they did at the time, which they did. Of course, most people then and now are sensible enough to recognize that the women you beat up in those games are, you know, trying to kill you. What wouldn't fly today, though, is Capcom's cringeworthy "Poison's actually a man, so that makes it okay" excuse.

Would video games where you beat up women (ie, Double Dragon, Final Fight) count? Who are are blatantly evil henchmen? That's acceptable.

Would video games where you beat up women (ie, Double Dragon, Final Fight) count? I think the shallow use of (even non-villainous) women in games outside stuff like the original Metroid hasn't aged terribly well to a lot of people. Lest we forget, this was the opening to the original Double Dragon: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}

As a General Hospital fan, I gotta come out and say the obvious: Luke and Laura. He raped her on the floor of a disco. Less than a year later, they’re the hottest super couple in soap opera history. Dynasty too. Blake flat out raped Krystle, even using a choke hold to keep her down.

I honestly don’t see an issue with either opening.

Lest we forget, this was the opening to the original Double Dragon: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} What is the problem with the DD opening? Typically these days, even in games where women play damsels, they're given a bit more characterization and agency than just being punched in the face and hauled off by the bad guy. Whether or not certain female characters today are objectified is up for debate, but its not hard to see this as basically being the trophy the villain stole from the hero.
