This does bring up something interesting about Tony snapping away all of Thanos' forces except for Gamora. It means, from his weeks together with Nebula, he learned enough about her to know to spare her from The Snap. I don't know how much he interacted with Nebula in the 5 years between his returning and the final battle, but it's good to know that Tony had her and her sister in mind when he made his decision.

He may have also remembered hearing of her while he was on Titan with Quill, Drax, Mantis amd Nebula. He didn't know them well, but he knew enough to know she was with these other plucky heroes. Though I'm sure him and Nebula talked about her at some point during the 22 days as well. I hadn't thought of her being safe for that reason re: Tony thinking to include her, but I like that idea a lot.

Even though this scene was cut, I still like that it was another little moment for Clint to inspire that tribute. The Russos did so much more with him than Whedon.

To be honest, in the moment of watching Endgame I would've loved that scene and if there was ever a cut that added it back in and I was rewatching Endgame with that cut I'm sure it'd play well, but isolated like this it does feel a little cheesy and cornball.
Also this instead of the funeral scene? No thanks. I think the right call was made in the end.

You get a better look at the sorrow Stephen is feeling in this cut scene because he knew the only victory the heroes could achieve was at the cost of Tony’s life. That said, the funeral scene is better overall and less cheesy.

Nebula undoubtedly talked about all of the guardians especially her sister. Other reasons as well at that point Gamora wasn't part of Thanos' forces. She was fighting with the heroes and since she was taken from the beginning of GotG where she was already beginning to work against him.

I can't get over how awkward Mantis looks in that scene.

Mantis was only there to kick names and take ass.

I can't get over how awkward Mantis looks in that scene. Yeah, she really looked like she was thinking “I need WAY more context for this then I do already”

I LOVE the extended look from Strange, that did wreck me there but damn...the funeral got to me more in ways you couldn’t even imagine. When they go from the wreath with the arc reactor that Tony have to Pepper floating in the river to that pan to all of the people there, people who we have grown up with essentially watching as their mentor/friend/father figure being laid to rest, swelled up with the score from “The Real Hero” playing. I will ugly cry every time I see that I feel like.

I’m glad that the Russo’s convinced him to say, “And I am Iron Man.” Was an excellent call back to the first movie and a pretty badass final line for him to say before snapping away Thanos and his goons.

Yeah, the funeral scene was a way better decision. This would feel duplicative of that scene were it left in.

Happy digital release day! Granted I'm going to wait two weeks before the Blu-ray release but hey, its out there...which means the Marvel Studios subreddit and YouTube will have HD clips of the best scenes now.

Watched it before work tonight. It really doesn't feel like a three hour movie.
Also, I'm now absolutely convinced that was Talos in human form in the background shot of Peter returning to school.
