Pretty much how I felt when I came out of Last Airbender. Was kind of going, "Well, that was... That was okay, I liked it," when I left the theater, then once I actually got home I spent about two hours realizing more and more things I hated about it.

I don’t hate the film as much as some but I was in denial over The Phantom Menace for a while.

The Assassination of Jesse James. I wanted so badly to actually like the movie, just because it was so beautifully filmed. But I just couldn't do it.

Batman vs. Superman. Took me about an hour or two before I realised what utter dross it was. As a counter to it, I watched the Street Fighter movie later that day and realised how much fun it was, cementing that as the superior movie.

Thor Ragnork, lots of people had a lot of praise for it and it was supposed to be super fun but I just couldn't enjoy it like I felt like I should

It's funny that Assassination of Jesse James was mentioned because I couldn't help but think of a film that reminds me of it from a previous era, namely Costner's ill fated Wyatt Earp. I sometimes revisit that film once a decade or so and think it'll be some misunderstood classic epic. But then it's the same 3 hour long snoozer it always was, except nowhere near as well made as the Jesse James movie.

For me, it's usually more of a case of liking a movie immediately after seeing it then realizing later on it wasn't very good. But I think that's more kneejerk reaction/adrenaline vs. thinking about it instead of convincing myself I liked it more than I did.

Superman Returns. I was convinced (albeit wardrobe grievances) that it would be a slam dunk.

Quite a few, notably The Last Jedi and Mortal Engines and The Hobbit.
But it's more only noticing the flaws after thinking about it in hindsight rather than convincing myself they are good movies.

I mean it wasn't terrible per say, but I was a big fan of the characters is Knocked Up and was trying to convince myself that it lived up to my expectations.

American Hustle just FELT like the kind of movie that would get Oscar consideration. I saw it opening day and convinced myself it was great. It was not great.

Idiocracy .
Cult film and kept hearing how great it was. Watched it and tired to act like it was great. In reality I don’t find it’s s good movie at all and find it pretty boring.
I honestly don’t see how it’s considered a good film in any capacity.

I won't go so far as to say I was in denial or anything, but I want to like Dark Knight Rises much more than I actually like it. There are really damn good scenes, but also a lot of bullshit and stuff the movie didn't need. Like, the financial subplot is a huge sink of time for very little payoff. Like, it gets some of the principle players interacting with Bruce, but that doesn't make it good writing or interesting.

Not really. I always give a movie a second chance, and if by then I haven't found anything to like I'll consider it a lost cause.
