I still can't get over how goddamn easy it'd have been for them to make a decent apology and skirt a ton of this. Like, a bit of humility would have gone a long way to having this not blow up like it did. Something as simple as, "Mistakes were made, and our ambition sometimes outpaced our professional know-how. So much of this has been learning on the job, and the unfortunate truth is that people have been hurt along the way. We do not recall every listed incident the same way as the document outlines, but we do not dispute that were we able to do things differently, with the benefit of the experience we have now, we would, in order to better take care of content creators who put their time, effort, and creativity into the growth of the site and their own growth alongside us." Like, I threw that together in a matter of minutes, and it'd obviously be given some more passes to tighten it up, probably in part with concern to any legal liability, but even this half-assed apology would have probably been plenty to satisfy a lot of people and prevent rubberneckers. Then again, I don't know that Doug, Rob, or Mike have that kind of humility in them, and we know enough about Doug's acting to know it wouldn't have been too convincing. Instead, we got an "apology" so piss-poor, it became a huge meme and got passed around by people who didn't even give a shit or in some cases even know who any of these people were. Just absolutely zero contrition. It also was a really bad look to zero in on retorting to the women while completely blowing off Linkara's complaints, since it , and holding Tamara out for a "see, we're not misogynists!" really just read like parody, it was so tone deaf. Remind me again. What were Linkara's complaints?

Downfall implies that there was a high point some time in the past. There was a high point (if having a lot of talented and diverse content creators on board is what qualifies as a high point). To deny that is just being petty and silly, IMO.

And Jon...well... we know the stuff that happened but he is probably more popukar than ever.

I like game reviewers who let their own personalities and opinions shine and make great videos, and he certainly does that.

Remind me again. What were Linkara's complaints? The two big ones that stood out was he and Lindsay being uncomfortable during the assimilation scene in To Boldly Flee, because the joke was that it was heavily implying sexual stuff and rape was happening behind closed doors. And the Walkers didn't want to change it, they did tone it down a little but still I can see that being a sticking point. The other was Linkara being told he couldn't rent out the Chicago studio to shoot his movie, because Mike told him that someone from the Office had to be there all the time to supervise the shoot and it would mess with the upcoming NC videos. (Some of which didn't even require the full studio.)

He was always kinda fragile but between the house thing and some personal stuff he's been having it rough. He also still makes Let's Play videos on his let's play channel (currently going through both Megaman Legends and Super Metroid/Link To The Past Randomizer) which is always hilarious between Jared being Jared and Miss Editor's bits.

The people in charge of Channel Awesome are deluded egomaniacs so any sort of humbling that'd come with a sincere apology is inconceivable to them.

Yeah, I still think he's got a knack for really funny lines and deep cuts, plus I still like Sarah, Dave, and Brian, but it does feel like he can be a real dick, too. Not like you have to be nice to be funny, but you get how I mean. There's this nasty undercurrent that really just jumps out at me more on knowing. Yeah I mean... I always thought we only got his side of the story with what went down with Jake if I'm honest. Not exactly. There was a thread on here when that whole incident happened, and I'm assuming because this is one of the few places discussing it at the time not modded by Team Snob or Team CA but one of Rayn's friends told her side of the story that was basically "Brad was more interested in Rayn than she was in him, she started dating Jake, then Brad kicked them both out of the group"

Brad contended Jake knew he wanted to be serious with her and pursued, anyway, but yeah, either way, sounded like a real mess. Will say that for any issues I have with Brad, Jake seems like a tool and I never found him funny. That's just my own personal tastes, though.

twitter.com/obscurus_lupa/status/1145260492887351296?s=21Wasn’t sure where to put this and Language warning so please when quoting cut off the links but basically Brad accused a bunch of former CA people of using their followers to call a SWAT team over to their house because he was suspected of wanting to commit suicide and celebrating it over Facebook. Shockingly, there’s no evidence of such a thing happening.

Been much more reluctant to do so since I learned of his response to things to begin with but... Yeah, he comes off like a total piece of shit with this.

Which sucks because Cinema Snob episodes are some of the consistently best review content going and I could somewhat accept CA loyalty to an extent but yeah, this feels shady as all hell.

Well Brad can FRO
That’s it for me. One or my favourite videos was Foodfight which Phelan, Allison and Brad reviewed.. man that will be upsetting to watch now.. any video Allison and Brad did together will be.

Coincidently, I got into a bit of a Phelan review hole with some of the reviews he did with Allison and Brad myself a couple of days ago which feels like some kind of cynical coincidence now. Watch them now so you can never watch them again later!
