Whenever the commentators say we're having fun you can guarantee we're not having fun.

Stop saying that the show/match is "rolling" or "rolls on". It's annoying as hell. Only acceptable instance: "The tape machines are rolling..." *Goes to commercial break*

Cole describing everything in a monotone, matter-of-fact demeanor. Like, "When Finn Balor gets pushed to far, he becomes the Demon," as if that's just something that happens to people sometimes. Or when Asuka debuted and he was like, "This is Asuka, former NXT Womens' Champion. She loves to have fun, loves to entertain," like she's just another schmoe on the roster. Or describing Aleister Black as "moody" or the infamous "yacht persona" bit. There's no "Wow!" factor, sense of wonder, or genuine excitement in anything he says, and it sucks the life out of the product.

Do they HAVE to always wear pants? No one can even see under the table! No one would know. What’s the point?

When the wrestler hits a finisher and they scream he has it That shit is rarely the case and immediately you know the wrestler kicking out Unless JBL shouts "ball game" he's always right about that

Overdoing pretending how the match is over when you know they're gonna kick out. Like most people have their trademark false finisher like the blue thunder bomb or falcon arrow etc but they still act like it's astonishing they kicked out. This, absolutely this. And it's not even just this era that's guilty of it. It's a Vince trope that goes at least back to the 80s. They'll sometimes throw a curve ball and have it actually be the end of the match, but it's extremely rare. So any time I hear "It's over!" or "We have a new champion!" or something of that ilk, I immediately know there's a kickout incoming. That’s one thing I liked about Gorilla Monsoon is that he would do that in squash matches and stuff too so it would be a bit more believable if he did the false finish call in a star vs star match. Like a guy would hit his finisher and he would say “It’s curtains for that guy. This one’s academic” like before the guy even made the cover.

Generally speaking I like anything that the commentators seem to have come up with themselves.
I used to hate 'vintage' as Cole's phrase but weirdly now I think of it as vintage Cole.
'Knocked off' is one of the ones I hate most.
But my most hated thing is not calling the names of the moves, especially because there is occasionally a really odd half second gap when a move happens and everyone wants to call the move, but says nothing, and changes to '...great shot to the ribs there' or something.

Oh my god, here's a surprise debut by someone that nobody expects to see! Good thing we have their Wikipedia page up and ready so we can recite every single accomplishment they've ever made! JBL was very, very bad with this.

Mauro's cringe inducing popular culture references make me physically sick. The annoying thing is that I love his enthusiasm for the product and think he's a positive impact on the NxT commentary team and is a great ying to McGuinness's yang when he's not trying to quote a song or mention the latest film. Ergg. Yeah, he's got so many good qualities as a commentator and might be the best since Attitude Era JR; great voice, genuine enthusiasm like you mentioned, I even really like mama mia (makes for a great chant as well). But the references. Good lord the references. And there's no restraint whatsoever -- just rapid fire reference after reference, and it's gotten worse. I used to just roll my eyes, but the last Takeover had me muting the TV from time to time.

The commentary during Charlotte vs Bayley match from Smackdown must have mentioned the match was for a future title opportunity at least 20 times. Even my wife, a non fan, was like we get it already!
With that said...is title shot a banned phrase? Because everything is an opportunity these days, and it sounds very stupid.
No one gets beat, they are “knocked off” or “put away”
“________ just put the entire locker room on notice!”

Jerry Lawler used to do that awful grunting along when someone was getting picked up, say Cena attempting to lift Big Show(!) and he’d be like “ooohh.. he’s.. UGGGHHH... trying to.. HNNNGGGGG!!!” and it’s really hard to explain in words, but if you know you know. Always hated that.

It felt like every pin attempt in every one of the 62 title matches at WrestleMania was accompanied by:
"TO RETAIN ..!" = champion
or
"FOR THE TITLE ... !" = challenger
Made me long for the days of "1, 2, HE GOT HIM! No, he didn't ..."

I know it’s been said many times already but you really can’t stress enough how bad Michael Cole is. The phoniness in everything he says takes me out of any moment. It’s been years and I still have no idea what Corey Graves is supposed to be.

My partners first started watching wrestling during the Mae Young Classic and they steadily lost their shit with 'the winner moves on and the loser goes home'. Like, yes. It's a tournament. That's how they work. Yes we know. We know. WHERE ELSE WOULD THE LOSER GO? OH I LOST TRACK DOES THE WINNER GO HOME AND THE LOSER GOES THROUGH???

JBL was very, very bad with this. Sting debuts: Cole: oh it's Sting that's kinda neat. JBL: born in Omaha, Nebraska he's the former co-owner of a Gold's gym..
