What are some examples of this? Ryback attacking Cena the night after mania 29 is an example of this I think. I thought it was more of a statement of wanting a title shot

Sid eliminating Hogan at Rumble 92. It's every man for himself and Hogan had done similar to his allies over the years, yet Sid was the bad guy somehow.

In fact he did the same thing Hogan did to others before but Hogan threw a bitch fit and helped him get eliminated because he was upset Sid eliminated him
After that is when they started to put on the face Sid turned his back on Hogan

CM Punk attacking The Rock, despite Lawler calling it a heel turn right away.

Sid eliminating Hogan at Rumble 92. It's every man for himself and Hogan had done similar to his allies over the years, yet Sid was the bad guy somehow. Sid didn't turn heel there. It would happen later at a press conference where he, Hogan and others attended to see who faced Flair. When Sid wasn't picked, he got mad, tore up something and walked off. That was the actual turn.

CM Punk attacking The Rock, despite Lawler calling it a heel turn right away. This is the best example of how much people's fandom can blind them on obvious clues. Man there were so many people online, hell, this board that thought Punk turning heel wasn't a heel turn. There were soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many excuses man. Shit was silly. I remember Punk himself said that he had to go overboard with his heelness due to the fact that people weren't believing it.

Punk had to look like a Nazi in order for people to think he's a heel lol.

Sid powerbombing HBK multiple times the night after Wrestlemania XI, where Michaels choked in his title match against Diesel and then unfairly blames Sid. HBK gives Sid "the night off", and Sid suffers no fools, and all to a big pop.
I guess Sid was already a heel, so maybe this doesn't quite count.

Didn't they show footage of it though the week after on Superstars with piped in boos and dubbed over commentary from Monsoon and Heenan reacting like Sid had done something heelish? Monsoon acting disgusted at Sid and Heenan saying he now liked Sid.

I wasn’t entirely sure Sami Zayn saving Kevin Owens from Shane’s Cell dive was a heel turn.

The presser wasn't Sid's turn either, it actually happened on an episode of SNME 2 weeks after that when Sid and Hogan teamed up against Flair and Taker and Sid refused to tag himself in after Hulk had clotheslined both heels, walking out of the match

At the time, he was a forty year-old man calling his opponent cookiepuss. He was corny and lame while Punk was the most exciting thing in wrestling.

By the time he returned after his suspension, he was definitely a 'face' or a tweener. I might even argue he was a 'face' heel.
