SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jeff Hardy reportedly suffered a leg injury at the April 20 WWE live event in Madison, Wisconsin as The Hardy Boys defeated The Usos. Hardy appeared the next night in Rochester, MN to be in Matt Hardy's corner for his win over Jimmy Uso, but he did not get physical and was said to be limping pretty bad. Hardy did not appear the following night in Sioux City, as Matt teamed with R-Truth for a win over Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, and he was not backstage for SmackDown on Tuesday. Hardy appears to be suffering from a right knee injury, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and the severity of the injury is still unknown. Hardy has had a bad right knee since his 2015 dirt bike accident, and has worked with a torn PCL for the past four years. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that officials will have to make a decision on the titles this coming week as there are two versions going around from people close to the situation - one is that Hardy needs knee surgery and will have to do the title change, and the other is that he's just banged up, but they're not sure how bad. It's believed among the people in WWE who need to know Hardy's status for storyline purposes that he is scheduled to undergo knee surgery this coming week after SmackDown. This could be why the injury is being kept a secret. People close to Hardy are saying he's injured, but hopefully not too bad, and right now Jeff is just playing things safe, according to the Observer. There's on word yet on if The Hardy Boys will appear on Tuesday's SmackDown in Columbus, OH, but they could end up doing a title change or an injury angle to write Jeff out. www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/04/jeff-hardy-injury-and-wwe-status-notes-653480/

SDL has such a bad tag division now with New Day, Hardys, Bar and Usos gone, who would even get the titles besides Heavy Machinery who is too early or the thrown together Rusev and Nakamura.

Unless Jeff's going to be out for like a year I'd just keep the tag titles on the Hardys the whole time. This tag division is a ghost town and even if it wasn't they probably wouldn't be making TV time for it anyway. Just pretend the belts don't exist for awhile.

Clearly, the B-Team is about to make the improbable tag title run at the expense of Matt Hardy into a yearly tradition.

Honestly, the latter wouldn't even be too bad an idea. Have them jump Jeff backtage, so he doesn't have to actually bump or anything, just, show him on the ground and act like they kicked his ass, and then have Matt either go it alone against them or have a filler teammate. If Rusev and Nakamura are on their way out, it may placate them.

I'd assume that Rusev & Nakamura would get the nod if Jeff can no longer go. Unless they put it on Heavy Machinery already or randomly put it on Gallows & Anderson (not that I would be unhappy about that but I don't put it past Vince to do something like that)

okay but for real tho, dude is beyond busted at that this point. reducing his live event schedule is basically the only way they could preserve him any longer.

He and his family live in Florida, he makes good money, he gets to surf, and he doesn't wrestle nearly as physical of a style as he did in Japan. Giving Rusev and Nakamura the titles would be the perfect thing to do, if Jeff has to go for surgery.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, plus it's not like if he went back to NJPW that he'd have much to do he hadn't already done. Good for him.

I do really enjoy Rusev and Nakamura's chemistry as a team. Their styles compliment each other well, and it's brought out the cunning sadistic side of Lana again.
EDIT: Also, I do hope Jeff gets better.

If it's not too bad just have some sort of tag team feud for them going for the number one contendership...
of course they would probably need more teams to make that work...

In addition to that The Colons are mostly used on live events these days. And Gallows and Anderson have one foot out the door. I'm not sure if it's still the case but I heard that Gallows and Anderson were no longer being used on live events. And they are rarely used on smackdown. With the smackdown tag team division in such rough shape it wouldn't surprise me if Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin became a team again. Although I can't understand why they don't move the Lucha House Party over to smackdown. They'd give the brand more Hispanic talent that would allow them to tap into that market.

If Jeff is out of the mix, they should do a tag team of Broken Matt and a Repaired R-Truth, where R-Truth is incredibly intellectual.
