Meh, I like Tom Magee. He would have been OK as the power guy of a tag team with a solid worker as his partner.

They recently put up a match on the network with Magee against Ted Dibiase that I would say was actually pretty good. Around 7-8 minutes in which Magee didn't look bad at all. It showed me that if against a good worker who could work around his limitations and play to his strengths, he was capable of being carried to a good match. He's was clearly super athletic and could do a lot but was also super clueless and didn't know how to work at all which showed in some of his embarrassing matches in Japan where he looked like quite possibly the worst wrestler I've ever seen.
I think the Bret match is going to something similar to the match he had with Dibiase. It's not going to be some five star classic or anything but probably a good 7-10 minute match with a good worker making a really bad one look way better the he actually was.

Waltman saying that Magee should have been working with guys like Bret and Million Dollar Man pretty much the entire time, is a good point. Let him learn from them, and get his feet under him.

I have legitimate goosebumps. This is so surreal. It sure is! The match having full unheard Gorilla/Bobby commentary was a really nice bonus even beyond the strangeness of finally seeing this match.

As someone that’s been watching alot of wwf tv from 85/86 recently you never saw this type of stuff on wwf tv if it aired back then it would be remembered as a classic.Bret was very good at his job.

Harry’s Bret impression was spot on!
Bobby’s commentary was so good... and it was a good match. Wow.

That was actually a really solid match, particularly for that era!

No idea why they didn't have McGee go around the horn with Bret and Ted like Waltman said. He looked like a million bucks, back in the day, TV tapings were mostly squash matches so they could have hid him on television and work longer matches at house shows.

The whole thing was great. So unexpected. When I saw the match on the schedule Friday night it was only scheduled to run for 10 minutes so I thought they were going to throw the match out there as a Hidden Gem. I wasn't expecting a documentary attached to it. They did a perfect job of explaining who these guys were and why this match was so historically significant. I thought it would be hard cam footage with no commentary like we got on some of the WWE Unreleased DVD a couple years ago. I was not expecting a professionally shot match with Gorilla and Bobby on commentary! What a sweet bonus that was.

Just reposting this from another thread That whole documentary was wonderful, just lovely tone to it, lacking in any cynicism. I may now be in love with Mary Kate Anthony. X Pac has line of the whole thing though, when asked how good Bret was *Irritated tone* "As good as he said he was!"

That Mary Kate lady use to do photography for Ring of Honor back in the day right? I remember there was a big backlash for when she got fired.
