I used to make jokes about them being a t-shirt company. But you have to applaud a move like this. I don't think anyone can deny that this company is legit now. However, I wonder how they were able to make this deal when TNA had trouble getting on even tiny channels. Maybe. But I also think that theres a difference negotiating with Dixie Carter (who had a very poor reputation not just among wrestling fans but also TV executives) and the Khans and Cody. Presentation is everything and from all accounts Dixie made herself look like an idiot in pitches ... remember she was so bad at selling TNA she had to hire a firm to try and help them find TV deals. I also will maintain this, there is a market for wrestling on television but fans dont want to watch what WWE is currently giving. If AEW can give the fans something that isnt boring I'm sure you'll see fans react

What does "airing weekly matches" mean? Kind of a strange way to put it.

What does "airing weekly matches" mean? Kind of a strange way to put it. Probably a way to say “we’ll have a weekly show, but we don’t have specifics yet.”

Great freaking news, finally we are going to get the resurrection of the Pro Wrestling business.

That is a sports-specific phrasing for a weekly wrestling show, since there would be dark matches they won't air the full cards, but they would be airing weekly matches from AEW on TNT. At least, that is the reading of it I get.

Don't watch NJPW or ROH or Being the Elite, only seen a handful of shows (like All In) but I want these guys to succeed so badly. I really, really, really hope they take off and we have genuine competition for Vince.

However, I wonder how they were able to make this deal when TNA had trouble getting on even tiny channels. Probably just money money invested ,better reputation and better businessman than Dixie. They currently have hype, money and have show they can do a successfull product(All In is basically their Proof of Concept).

I was really optimistic about their chances, and even I'm just so floored it's really happening. I'm stoked.

I dunno if an American version of New Japan will fly. I mean...I can just watch NJPW. Such a serious product is a bit at odds with these indie goofballs that populate BTE on You Tube these days. Tony Khan has said he's a big fan of stuff like Mid-South or Memphis, so why not do that sort of show? I think Memphis did a bit too much out there trashy stuff, but doing a Mid-South style show with hard driving week to week storylines, stuff that gets the viewer emotionally hyped. A serious grown man's wrestling product.

Even though it seemed like a done deal by all accounts...the fact it’s actually on paper and promoted...it’s surreal as f***.
Here’s to the most surreal next few months in wrestling history, kids.

There needs to be a proper balance so the show can appeal to every kind of fan(casual, smark, etc).

And to think this all started partly because WWE got upset over a badly made independent Kevin Owens action figure.

This is so great for fans. I can't wait. I really hope they mean it when they say they just want to be an alternative to WWE.

A serious grown man's wrestling product. It seems to me that with Cody (and now Dustin) on board, and Turner/Warner on board, we're looking at some Southern-style/early-WCW influences. I'm sure that there's still going to be that SoCal Indie Goofiness present, but they'll figure out a balance.

Finally getting to read the statement put forth there's a few interesting items I'm seeing. One of which is a statistics being tracked for each wrestler in terms of wins and losses. Should make our resident statistician breathe easier lol. Seriously though, I'm interested to see how they handle stats in conjunction with titles. Be interesting to see. Like the idea of three wrestlers beings on a win streak and a three way match determining the tie breaker for a title match. Or a low card wrestler with a lot of losses goes on a huge win streak that ends with them getting a title shot. A lot of possibilities

This is huge, and seeing it all on paper is just amazing. AEW is here folks. Hopefully it is here to stay, but that is a mainstay Network, and it's looking to hit hard and hit early. I'm here for it let's GO!
