FF7 finally gets its vocal theme.
Also I am so very happy seeing Cid appear. He was always my favorite.

So if I had to guess, Rebirth will end with Aerith getting impaled.

The closer we get to Rebirth coming out, the more confused I get over how this is just going to be three games. Unless they completely rip up the original story (which they could very be doing considering everything so far) the pacing doesn't fit into just three games.

I thought the first part of the FF VII Remake did get stretched too long, like the Train Graveyard section.

I liked the first game and this looks and fine and shit... but this is starting to really give me "The Hobbit Trilogy" vibes of losing focus and harming the story by adding just too much filler and bullshit.

I enjoyed some of the side quests because they fleshed out the world of Midgar more (and you could always skip them) but yeah, some of the mandatory sections really were stretched thin and that's a great example of one. Hojo's lab seemed never-ending as well.

I've been playing the original again and mannn the pacing is so good in that especially compared to Remake. You're on the move to new locales all the time and the story moves on a steady clip, while in FF7R it really has that Hobbit Trilogy vibe like you said, that "alright we're gonna be in this village that had 0.25 pages worth of content in the book for the next 45 minutes" feeling.

I feel like some of this was a must, like some of those original towns were basically jpegs with 2-3 entrances and a couple of NPCs standing around. Of course, they went a little overboard with some of it, versus stuff like fleshing out Jessie that were better uses of their time. I kind of figure we either get some stuff getting rolled together for part 3 to basically speed through some of it, some dropped elements, or more stuff like the Yuffie DLC to put some stuff to try to free up focus.

In Rebirth's defense, it does look like they are cutting some fat that was in the original as well in terms of towns and such while hitting the greatest hits. Plus the fact it's two discs makes me think we're going to cut through a large chunk of story. Like, looks like we're getting Cid a bit early and skipping out on going to the optional island to get Yuffie. I dig it so far. Just can't wait to run around as Cait Sith though.

As a tie-in, Advent Children got a 4K remaster and it’s showing in theaters for a two-week special engagement. Might go and check it out this weekend. Haven’t seen it in close to 20 years but remember enjoying it at the time.

The final trailer looks good. Some scenes and locations I'm looking forward to seeing. I'm not going to bother with the demo though because I'm buying the game regardless.
