That truly means jack with the NFL. They had the videotape of the Ray Rice incident for months without doing anything about it. He actually was indicted of the assault, making it an official matter of law, and they did nothing. They only dropped the hammer on him when the footage started going viral months after his indictment. Sure, but I think the point he's making is, in the public this story looks terrible, everyone wants him suspended, so for him not to be means he had to supply some type strong evidence or he'd be looking at what Jarran Reed got you'd think. Honestly, I don't think the Reed situation compares to the Hill one as it is definitely worse. The only provable thing is that Hill threatened a woman that he had a history of violence against (the child abuse charges are inconclusive, as I am sure you noticed), which is not nearly as bad as what Reed is currently being punished for. It would have been inappropriate for Hill to have gotten the same punishment as Reed under the circumstances. I was figuring Hill might get 3-4 games at most initially, adjusted to 1 or 2 after appeal.

If you take 5 minutes to look at social media about 80% of the public thinks Hill should be suspended for the season or get a lifetime ban, headlines make opinions basically.

That was never my stance. I was looking for a hard slap on the wrist that might get his attention and alter his future behavior. Once the child abuse accusations was off of the table, that was the only appropriate punishment as far as I was concerned.

I guess my question to all of this is, did he not get suspended because he has legit evidence or do we buy into the Florio reason?

I also think that if Hill had not lit up the league the way he did this past season that they would have been less reluctant to make something of this. Yes, the NFL gave Tom Brady, one of their biggest stars, a good whack over Deflategate, but he had a long, long history of excellence and rebounding. Punishing him would never derail him or the Patriots. Hill, however, is the type of star that could be derailed.

Basically him not being suspended is a mix of "tv ratings" and "Mahomes is the new face of the league they won't take his weapon away"

Caesars Palace listed their top 5 odds of winning the Super Bowl. They actually have the Browns at #5. Maybe they could make the playoffs at least once this decade (their only playoff game since they returned was a wild card loss in 2003) before you encourage people to bet money on them winning it all?

The Browns are the hot pick this preseason, I think it's an easy way for Vegas to make some money.

Yeah, there's one thing that's often forgotten about Vegas: it's not just wins/losses that's factored into the odds. It's making money for the house, fanbases and trends. That doesn't say "The Browns are the 5th best team in football". It's more like "taking everything into account, the Browns being at #5 provide our maximum potential for the house to make money."

Earlier this off-season, I was on board with the Browns as a sneaky pick to win the AFC North. I thought they were an improving team that made a lot of savvy moves and on top of that, I felt like Pittsburgh and Baltimore both took a bit of a step back, either due to losing key players or just age starting to catch up to them. But I feel like there's been entirely too much hype foisted on the Browns for the past few months (really ever since the Odell Beckham Jr. trade) and it feels like the crushing weight of expectations might potentially be too heavy of a burden for them. This is a team that went 7-8-1 last year and showed tremendous signs of improvement, but the next hurdle - the one from also-ran to playoff contender - is the hardest to clear. I could easily see them winning the division just as much as I could see them pulling a 2011 Eagles (aka "The Dream Team") and finishing .500 or worse. Things rarely pan out for the champions of the off-season. Tom Brady is wearing his favorite players jersey. If Tom Brady wore the jersey of every quarterback he's beaten, the poor guy would probably barely be able to move his upper body from all the weight.

I don't think Mayfield will be amongst the best in the league until he learns to grow up. Teams only rally behind obnoxious s***talkers in the short term at best. I could just as easily see some of the players tire of his antics. OBJ has that potential as well.

In spite of all the noise coming out of the Giants concerning Odell, he was beloved by his teammates there. Most of the annoyance came from the coaching and front office, who still have this very old, conservative "New York Football Giants" stick-up-the-ass attitude where being young and flashy is a bad thing even if the other players don't mind it or like it. And OBJ is far from the first player to have an issue with jackass like Dave Gettleman. Kitchens don't strike me as an old school guy in terms of coaching attitudes, so I can't see them having too many issues.

Kitchens don't strike me as an old school guy in terms of coaching attitudes, so I can't see them having too many issues. There's a lot of personalities on that team that could clash quickly if things go south. Browns fans and the media in Cleveland have been desperate for a winner since the franchise returned in 1999 and this appears to be the closest thing to a winner that the Browns have ever had, so if things start off poorly, there's going to be a lot of loud voices wondering what's going wrong. As I've said, I could see the Browns winning 11 games and the North division. But if they start something like 0-2 or 0-3, I could just as easily see it spiraling out of control and the team finishing something like 7-9. They've got talent for days but this is the first time they've all been put together as a pre-ordained winner, and as we saw best with the 2011 Eagles, you don't automatically advance to the Super Bowl just because you won the off-season.

AJ Green had ligament damage on his ankle so he'll miss 6-8 weeks Might be close to calling it a career for AJ. Which is unfortunate he looked like the second coming of Randy Moss, sucks he spent the best years of his career in Cincy making Andy Dalton appear serviceable
