The more I hear about it, sadly, the les i think this is a game for me. After I heard the ending is a 2 hour cut scene I lost interest. Without getting into spoilers, I think people are not representing it properly if they say the ending is just a two hour cut scene. It's more like how MGS4 had a big cut scene at the end too (or any number of games, really), if that makes any sense (no clue if you played MGS4).

Mostly wanted to give the game a shot because of how insane the story looked.

Yea, def one of those games i'll pick up on sale like I said earlier
I'm one of those people who will do exploration and just enjoy the scenery and this game has plenty of that. I've seen the stealth section but knowing you get to do more against enemies later def does ease that pain a bit so yeah it will be worth a buy later

And for as weird as the story is, it isn't as hard to understand as some people make it out to be. It's definitely out there and won't be for everyone, but it's pretty straight forward. I get that this won't be for everyone, a very specific niche game maker has made an even more niche game. It's very much an indie game that somehow got a triple A budget. I'd say pretty much what I've said from the start, if you like Kojima and like his games, you'll probably like this. If you don't, you probably should skip it unless you're a big fan of games like SotC and BotW. I'm hearing something in the middle for the story, where some people feel it's over confusing and others think it's easy to get, it just thinks it's smarter than it actually is. I'm leaning more in the latter as I feel I keep getting bopped in the head with obvious metaphors like the handcuff cellphones and the amount of times someone has referenced connections using strings and ropes as a metaphor. I'm actually reminded of a very old Zero Punctuation quote about Kojima "Somebody once said that a politician is a person who can talk for hours and never actually say anything. If that's true, Hideo Kojima could run for government and be emperor of the universe by mid-afternoon". As for the gameplay, I actually hate games like BotW because it throws to many systems and mechanics that weighs down the experience. I'm liking DS a lot more because it very much has the "explore this untamed world " feel that games like BotW and RDR2 have but feels more minimalist like Shadow of the Colossus. There's no eating/cooking, my stamina bar isn't super short at the start, my equipment doesn't feel brittle, hell there's not really even a life bar. It's just all focused on cargo. Do I wish there was more a sense of discovery and interesting sidequests that those games had, absolutely, but I'm enjoying the core experience more than both games.

But no matter how much I complain and want to throw my controller and take breaks during the stealth... as soon as I sneak past the BTs, I’m completely drawn back into the game.

So apparently Kojima came out and said the reason a lot of people aren't liking it is because it isn't an FPS. Because the MGS games were clearly FPS games.

I was super confused, but interested when the trailer came out. Since then, I've been trying to keep up with this game as much as possible. Once the media embargo got lifted and videos started coming out, I took in as much gameplay information as possible. I've been watching walkthroughs and skipping through the cut scenes to see if I would enjoy the actual playing of the game and decided that I probably would. Because I wouldn't shut up about it, my girlfriend convinced me to just pull the trigger on the Collector's Edition. She thought having the BB would be weirdly awesome.
It came today and I spent a little over an hour playing. The majority of that time was cut scenes. And guess what? I loved it. I'm so happy that I skipped the cut scenes on the videos I watched because I am enjoying the hell out of the story. The little gameplay that I've completed was really fun. From what I've seen, there is a lot more of that to come.
I just wish I had more free time...
I definitely can understand why this game is polarizing, but it's got me hooked.

Won't matter as the PC version is going to be modded to hell and back with guns and stuff.

Just discovered you can throw grenades at regular BTs as they’re floating around. Life is much easier now.

I was actually really tempted to ask you about that the last time you posted, as it sounded like you were far enough into the game that you should've gotten them, but I didn't want to spoil anything for anyone either. Yeah, the grenades make life with the BTs significantly easier and gives you another option, if you don't want to stealth. Also in the beginning they really load you up with them once you can use them, so it isn't like you really have to worry about exhausting your resources.

Yep. Really digging this game and I still haven't gotten to the crazy stuff.
I need to get better at being stealthy with BTs, especially since I haven't gotten to the "throwing blood at them" stuff yet. So far, I've just had to rely on running from them...which isn't the easiest thing to do. I damaged some cargo pretty badly because of it. It still got accepted after I went back and picked it up, but I was mad at myself for dropping it.
Really awesome experience so far.

My wife loves it, I'm on the fence about it. One thing I absolutely love is the environment itself changing over time, blew my f***ing mind watching it change as I was playing. And the game is jaw droppingly gorgeous on a PS4 slim, it must look wild in 4K.

I haven't read many spoilers, but from the negatives of the game ppl are saying around here i.e. 'long cutscenes', 'fetch quests', 'non-easy gameplay' it reminds me of the first time I played Shenmue on Dreamcast. Just put this game on my radar when it really wasn't before (I'm still butthurt about Silent Hills)

I’ve been playing for about five hours now. I change my mind, it’s incredible. It’s not about delivering packages, it’s about planning a trip and collaborating with other people online to make it happen.

It’s not about delivering packages, it’s about planning a trip and collaborating with other people online to make it happen. That's probably the hardest thing to really explain about the game, it's more than just delivering packages, but a lot of the mechanics involved demand spoilers to explain that but most people don't want a decent chunk of things about the game spoiled for them upfront before playing it. I know I was surprised by a lot of the additions they keep adding to your resources throughout the game.

I dont really like the mountain region. I hate trekking up the cliffs and I wish the menu showed which zip lines connect when I'm on foot, so I can decide which to delete to clear clutter and make a more efficient travel system. Speaking of clutter, the first part of the game isn't as nice once once you get further on. The map feels loaded with a bunch of vehicles and unnecessary structures that it takes me out of the game's atmosphere. "Why is there a safe house here? There's a distribution center literally 100 meters away! "

I will probably try and get it after a price cut.
I do love the idea of other players helping you instead of trolling like in Dark Souls.
