Honestly this show tje simplicity of story telling. I had no idea who Tully was and AEW Just showed " He is Cody's dad bitter nemesis" and oh okay every piece falls into place. Yeah, Tully Blanchard is a former Four Horseman who was a rival to Dusty Rhodes, perhaps most notably when Babydoll turned heel and sided with Tully, backstabbing Dusty. "The Perfect 10" Babydoll.

So i'm gonna say it.
That was really f***ing good.
There was ACTUALLY a reason for the signing, the manager doing something besides being ring-side , a setting, the contract actually advanced the plot and character.
And the direction was beautiful.
And yet the blood and guts and MJF tie made me laugh so much

I really hope they use MJF to his full potential in this storyline. It'd be a good way to extend it without dragging it out if Spears and him end up having a match at some point.
Also if this all leads to Spears and MJF being managed by Tully in a The Heenan Family style old school stable, brilliant.
The contract signing was exactly how I wanted it to play out. It was very invoking of the old contract signing segments you'd see with the Four Horsemen where it felt like a legitimate contract signing (with some obvious drama for story progression) done in the modern era.

I still love that the shoot lawyer was just "why isn't this just happening electronically, we live in the future, wrestling"

I love on the whiteboard in the background, "More Blood and Guts" as a jab at Vince.

I love on the whiteboard in the background, "More Blood and Guts" as a jab at Vince. Right. Like, I find stuff like that funny, things that are simple and to the point, especially if they make sense without context. So long as we don't get Billionaire Ted level shit, and I doubt we would, then super.

Also I loled at "Havoc TNT Standards/Practices" on the whiteboard.

Also I loled at "Havoc TNT Standards/Practices" on the whiteboard. I could not tell on my monitor what the first word was, but Havoc makes a load of sense and is a great little joke.

In terms of building their matches, I don't think any wrestler is better than Cody right now. He's somehow discovered this ability to turn matches that seem like "Eh... I don't know about this." into "I gotta see what happens next." His storytelling is on another level right now.

Bucks are great at humour, marketing ,pr. Cody is great at telling stories and building then. Omega is a great spokeperson and probably the best guy to help build your matches.

Tully is fantastic in this role. He really is, like he's definitely coming off as the guy whose done this before and knows not just what Cody does but what his father would have done in those situations. He's smarmy in the Hollywood agent sense and not the Paul Heyman sense. It was a fun episode, the contract signing sent the message it wanted and left open more for Cody to address himself in future episodes, the lawyer basically taking a pot shot at how wrestling does contract signings was pretty great and I sort of hope that ends that arrangement in AEW outside of deals like this for big blood feuds. Also, MJF is really milking this Cody thing so much he has to turn but I kind of hope that doesn't happen at All Out. For the story it makes sense but I sort of hope it's a swerve and they keep that going for a bit longer. On the flip side, if he does turn, it makes for a more interesting story with Cody's match with Sammy being distracted by events in his life.

Really enjoyed the latest video. I'm incredibly invested into this match now. They've done a great job with it.
Maybe MJF turns on Cody and him and Spears are gonna be Jericho's tag partners on the debut tv show?
Although I kind of think there's more mileage in him sucking up to Cody for a little while especially as Spears only just turned on him.

I love stuff like this. It was a well made video and made me look forward to a match featuring Tye Dillinger of all people. As has been stated earlier, Tully is great in this role. While I'm not the biggest Cody fan, he looked like a superstar going up to the table and signing the contract without needing to know what was in it. Good job all around.

This episode was SO SO SO good.
It only took ONE video for Shawn Spears to look like a main event player, Tully is used to perfection, plays his role spot on, and Cody coming in and being so "numb & hurt by it all" that he doesn't even need to read the contract, he signs and leaves.
The slow build to MJF's eventual turn on Cody is being done masterfully too.
It's crazy how a 6 minute video can do so much more than WWE can do with hours and hours of programming.

I hope we cna let the MJF turn simmer for some time.We just had Shawn turn on him
