The Ringer NBA podcast about this is so awful. Two journalists talking for 40 minutes about how Kobe was a bad teammate and ruined the Lakers. Like, is now the time? Yep. Wanted all the pressure on him. Worked like a maniac. Wanted all of his teammates to do their best. Brought five championships to LA. What a cancer on that organization he was.

I mean, he was a bad teammate. Great player, bad teammate. Jordan was too. LeBron is too. It's not like since he's dead we have to act like he was infallible. You can respectfully say that he had flaws.
But f*** The Ringer (and any other Simmons project), and any contrarian podcast for views. But that one particular take isn't incorrect.

Kings trailed the Timberwolves by 17 with 2:49 left in the fourth, since the 1996-97 season NBA teams entered the day 0-8378 when trailing by 17 or more in the final 3 minutes of regulation or OT but somehow someway, the Kings won AGAINST ALL ODDS 133-129

I wouldn't even say those guy's are necessarily bad teammate's they just are all ill suited to work with young guy's who need to be developed. Ie all of them are a bit like Larry Brown in player form

If forcing guys off teams, throwing dudes under the bus to the media, and generally being a prima donna (which isn't to say any one of them was all three) isn't being a bad teammate, then that's a pretty damn low bar. It's not like they didn't jive well with young players and that was the ONLY criticism of them as teammates. They would be viewed wildly differently if it were.

Some of the bad teammate stuff(Jordan punching teammates in practice,Kobe/Lebron trying to get scrubs traded) was at least done through a cutthroat single minded tunnel vision of trying to win. Someone like Shaq who was far more beloved by ex-teammate's in his best season probably never put half the offseason and practice effort those guy's did in their worst.

Yes, which makes Shaq a good teammate with a bad work ethic. No one denies the greatness or work ethic or compete level in any of those dudes, but that doesn't preclude them from being called bad teammates. You can't really say that something isn't a certain way because of the motivation, when it actually is. Like how Belichick is known as not being a player's coach. You can't, or I guess I would say you shouldn't, say that isn't true because it's done for the sake of winning. That undercuts the whole point just to make an entirely different one.

Just to throw in, not sure if it was brought up, but along with Kobe's family and friends, I'm really feeling for Shaq right now.
He tragically lost his sister not long ago and now he has to think about losing someone he played with and won titles with for years? Like, I can't imagine what he's going through right now.

Yeah, you say, "Shaq & Kobe," you think of dominance. Shaq was the most dominant force in our lifetime (Stephen A. Smith voice)! with those early 2000 teams. As far as the bad teammate thing goes. I had a job where I showed up everyday, busted my ass, took on multiple roles, and trained new people. If somebody didn't work as hard as I did, or didn't even try, yeah...I let management know. If you're not pulling your weight and/or bringing the team down, then get out. But if you genuinely wanted to learn and get better, I would work with you as long as you needed. Nothing wrong with wanting people on your team to max out their potential.

Kobe had the tendencies of both the worst teammate and the best teammate
He would be the worst because he knows how great he is and thus he could only truly trust himself to take the shots that needed to be taken and thus always demanded the ball because he aint trust anyone.
But he is also the best because of that work ethic always the first to show up and the last to leave and demand greatness from everyone else and he was fearless as a team mate you know u could give it to Kobe and he gonna take that shot that smush parker is too damn scared to take and him putting in all that work gonna take the team to the promise land.

Yea I didn't mention it on here, but for a few hours after we learned Kobe died, all Shaq did was post pictures of him and Kobe on social media No doubt he is hurting

Making an guess that the Lakers/Clippers game is going to be rescheduled for April 10 (20 years to the day of the WCW Reboot nitro) which happens to be the same day that the Dodgers welcome the Cheaterslaying World Series Champions the Nationals to Dodger Stadiun and the same day as the Smackdown After Wrestlemania One Piece

'Dipo takes the game to OT on his game back, and the Pacers win.
But... I'd lie if I said basketball is easy to watch.
