He was THE journalist at ESPN for such a long time. You know if you saw him breaking a story, some shit was about to go down, whether it be a major scandal, an arrest, or something else that'd shatter the self-imposed barrier between the sports world and the real world. He had a trustworthiness and class to him for his decades at the Worldwide Leader and a career bereft of the hot takes of the other personalities at the network. When he editorialized, you knew it came from a place of thought, wisdom, and reflection. And he had a hell of a sense of humor, as shown when he came onto some of ESPN's sillier shows like the Dan LeBatard Show.
He is to sports journalism what Walter Cronkite was to network news. And that's no exaggeration. May he have a long, happy retirement because he's certainly earned it.

I always liked Bob. I always thought he was underrated when it came to humor because he broke so many serious stories.
He deserves the relaxation he's going to get, for sure.
