We're never going to escape the late 90s/early 00s are we?

Forgive me if I’m indifferent towards such a change, because the main change I want to see is with the on-screen product, and there have been way too many times where such a thing has been promised and nothing’s happened. Vince is still the top man in charge at the end of the day, after all.

After his history in backstage roles, how the hell did they convince Heyman to do this?

Vince is still the top man in charge at the end of the day, after all. What I will say is that Heyman's been someone who has constantly stood up to Vince over the years and even if his ideas didn't get through, he at least respects him for having a backbone. Bischoff is probably a guy whose dealt with network heads before so is probably more likely to be able to establish a middle ground then just Vince trying to make both sides happy. What I will ALSO say is man, did all the potential fresh voices in wrestling die recently in a horrific accident and we didn't know about it?

They should have done this 15 years ago. But as long as everything is filtered through Vince at the end none of it really matters.

I actually like the idea in some ways. Both men changed the business at one point and honestly, I'm just happy for anything different at this point. I know some people are mad about "been there; done that," and while not entirely wrong, I feel like a fresh pair of eyes but with experience, can only be a good thing.

I’ll be honest, I couldn’t tell you who most of the fresh voices in wrestling would even be. I could give you the AEW guys, Jim Smallman (who’s already got WWE ties with their weird working arrangement with PROGRESS) and Emily Read (founder of Pro Wrestling EVE, and someone who wouldn’t piss on Vince if he was on fire), and that’s about it.

It feels like they're going to be the intermediaries between Vince and the networks/talent and throw in their opinions, but I doubt that Vince is going to let them make much of an impact (no pun intended) on Raw or SmackDown. He respects both, but I'm interested in seeing how long this takes to implode. A year, perhaps?

I don't see this ending well. Vince and Heyman will clash big time.
Bischoff eh...I still remember how WCW ended and what happened in TNA.

Vince would have to step back and be hands-off for this to have any shot at working.
And he's not going to do that.

Clearly the Alliance in 2001 was playing the long game.

Guys this is huge.
No way in hell would Vince put these guys in this position a few years back. This is another example of WWE in panic mode.
I have mixed feelings on this. Paul is fantastic creatively and he is able to modernise himself when needed but still it's two guys who were big in the 90's and early 00's.
Will be interesting to see if this changes anything.

I'd probably throw Joe Cabray out there who is kinda sorta a part of the WWE circle with OTT since he's been up close in the progress of a lot of Irish talent coming through right now or at the very least giving them platforms but you are right to an extent. It's hard for that to be a thing in the same way, say, indie movies are because there's not the same upwards progression. There's not a Colin Trevorrow being trusted with a Jurrasic World sized project in pro wrestling since one company is big enough to do that.
