There's a Sandman series coming to Netflix

It's an interesting casting for Lucifer in this. I've never seen Christie in a role that's as charismatic as Gaiman's Lucifer, but she can get the look down real good.

Interesting other casting choices so far. I'm really curious to see who they get to play the other Endless, especially Death, Desire, and Delirium. I also hope they get a good voice for Matthew the Raven. Also hoping that Gaiman will keep Goyer's worst instincts in check.

Really liking these choices. In the absence of David Bowie as the ideal casting, changing things up for Lucifer is a great idea, and Christie is fantastic so should really nail it. The added gender fluidity in Good Omens like with Doon Mackichan as Michael worked wonders, and hopefully we'll get a similar approach here. Really looking forward to seeing if we get an enby performer as Desire.

A Sandman Mystery Theatre adaptation would have me way more hype than a Sandman one.

I love them both, but I think the former would be a much better fit for a screen adaptation, and seems tailor made for a network like HBO to take a crack at.

I mean, they're the "same" Lucifer in the comics.

Huge Sandman fan here, and I'm on the fence regarding the actor playing Morpheus. He feels so close, but not quite there. Of all people, I think Ezra Miller could have nailed the look perfectly.

Comic Morpheus' look was based on Robert Smith who was quite a generic looking guy who exaggerated and enhanced his features by original and theatrical hair and makeup styles so I'm not sure why that's been neglected. Maybe they think it's too dated or maybe it's a look he will adopt in future events not featured in the trailer.

Looks like they're doing the John Dee story and well into The Dolls House for season 1. I hope for a Cillian Murphy cameo when John Dee escapes but it's probably unlikely.

I'm curious how Doctor Destiny being in this show works. I assume that Gaiman would have creator rights over all Sandman-original characters that a lot of the Vertigo books have (or used to have?) back in the day, but John Dee is a tried and true DC character. Do the estates of Gardner Fox and Mike Sekowsky get some kind cut of Netflix money so the show can adapt issues #6 and #7 of The Sandman.

So almost done with EP 1. Now I read the comic,starting with issue 4 until the end,cause it hit right when I started working part time at a comic shop

Not bad. Sure a few things got changed,but still work. One thing I have noticed is certain object,like Dream's helmet,that looked amazing in the comic no matter who drew them,look like a cheap Party City prop in the show.

Been told this season covers the first TPB. So guessing,haven't read any spoilers,last episode or first of next season Introduces Death in what I hope is a word for word scene for scene recreation of issue 8.

I always assumed it was pronounced "constan-teen", so the way they're saying it "constan-tine" is throwing me off.

Since they presumably have the rights to the name I also kind of wish they'd just used John.  Johanna has her own stories.

Just curious anyone know the average budget per episode?Cause like the CGI of Dream;s kingdom looked great. But some of the props looked really really cheap.

Might watch another episode in a bit. Aint like I dont know where this storyline is going.

I wonder if they couldn't use John because he was active in his show and legends of tomorrow until quite recently. There may have been something with the rights there.

I just watched the first episode, am not familiar with the source material, and found it to be a convoluted mess. If I keep watching, it's a mercy act for I love the theme of dreams and nightmares, but so far the storytelling felt deeply incompetent.
