Yeah and I doubt Moxley will end up like 2-7 or whatever. He'll probably be more like 7-2 and barely miss the finals on the last night of the block. AEW won't be upset with that performance. The hilarity of the Spears thing is they don't want him to job or something, yet Cody's old tag partner that turned on him was eliminated by the legless guy at the battle royale. That has been his only AEW match thus far.

I'd be surprised if independent promotions continue to use AEW talent (if they even remain available for indie bookings) if the result of the matches those guys are in is a foregone conclusion, and the fans catch on. Say what you will about TNA handling indie bookings for their talent over the years and taking a cut of the money, but at least they didn't have a "TNA guys can't lose matches on indies" rule. Titleholders, sure. But random guys on the roster, no.

Imagine the disappointment when you go to a show and the wrestler you wanted to see gets replaced by tommy f***ing dreamer of all people.... And he's 20 minutes late to the ring due to traffic at the catering table.

They're gonna have to navigate a lot of this stuff carefully, reportedly NJPW is kinda sour on them.

So now he's in a 3-way match so he can be eliminated from a tournament without being pinned, thus AEW will allow him to be in the match. These companies are going to have to make a choice. If they want to try these loose alliances with some talent sharing and such, they're going to have to get over the "our guys don't job to yours" thing. And get the details down before you allow such appearances. I'm not being glib, but I feel like the only way these loose alliances are going to work is if the attitude of "WINS AND LOSSES MATTER" that we all want is limited to one specific promotion. Otherwise, this is all going to go to hell in a handbasket, and AEW will inevitably have to step on a few necks to build their empire.

It seems once they get up and running with weekly TV, all of their talent will basically be exclusive, so the indies won't have to worry about this sort of thing anymore.

They're gonna have to navigate a lot of this stuff carefully, reportedly NJPW is kinda sour on them. The only real NJPW talent they use is Moxley and he has a separate deal with New Japan. And Jericho, I guess, but I'm not sure what his contract status is, though I imagine it's similar to what Mox has.
New Japan's partnership with CMLL and AEW's partnership with AAA would make things difficult anyway. And New Japan seems like they'd rather be on their own for international shows if their relationship with ROH falls through. The most natural partnership for them would probably be Impact given that they're going to be airing on the same channel in the US. But New Japan knows how to hold a grudge after the last disaster, even though none of the people responsible for that on Impact's end haven't been involved with the company in several years.

I think New Japan is probably a little sour about not getting to use Moxley for the Dallas show. They were probably hoping he could help boost sales there. Jericho is a different story, as they expected not to get him for the US shows since that was the deal when he still was working for WWE. I agree that New Japan might just go solo in the US once ROH either folds or they leave them. I found it interesting that their late September mini-tour is all in places that ROH regularly runs, but it wasn't announced with ROH being involved. Either way, it looks like New Japan is slowly setting up a US base and touring brand.
