Being deathly afraid of lightning somewhat of a meteorology buff, I know nasty storms are usually the signal of the end of a heatwave around here.
Gotta love the Northeast, though. One of the few places in the US where it can from below 0 to 100F in the span of a few months.

Thunder play in Oklahoma City and the Devils play in New Jersey. And nothing to be said about them playing in different sports.

At least y'all went from one to the other. We ran a Heat Advisory and a Flood Warning concurrently down here in Michigan.

Heard it yup, but was too busy getting drenched to react. I was very lucky that an empty bus came by to take me a block away from home.

You got what we had last week here in NE Wisconsin/UP of Michigan.
Power lines got taken out, roads flooded, trees down everywhere, and just a general mess. It also led to me accidentally running something over in the middle of the night and wrecking the brake line of the Mustang and knocking the muffler loose and now I won't be getting the car back for a couple of weeks for various reasons.

Ton of lightning here last night (SE Mass), with only some thunder. Those are still weird experiences. You just instinctively think thunder when you see the flashes of lightning.

It was pretty bad, lots of folks lost power in Brooklyn and Queens, thankfully it didn't affect my area.

We had a microburst hit my neck of the woods. Only lasted for about 10 minutes or so, but it was pretty insane with the winds and rains. Fortunately I kept my power, but a few sections of my town still don't have it.

We had a microburst hit my neck of the woods. Only lasted for about 10 minutes or so. Same here. But a few places in town managed to flood in that 10 minutes. P.S I'm in Atlantic Canada

The only thunder I heard was in paradise, brother! I hear it every Thursday night when there's a storm brewing, testing the limits... Or it seems to only happen when it's raining.

Apparently a quarter million people lost power in my county due to fallen trees and downed power lines. Luckily, I kept my power though there's still about 1,000 people in my town still without it.
