Tombstone is the movie that got me into westerns, and this thread has me wondering if there's ever been a western as quotable. though some people don't count it as a true western because the sheriff is a ni-*DING*

I hadn't considered Blazing Saddles because I was thinking of straight up westerns, but you're right. Lol for me it's either this movie or Back to the Future III which I count as a western. Doesnt get enough credit BttF3 is my favourite of the trilogy because it's a western. Very underrated flick.

People like westerns. A lot of people remember it fondly from 20+ years ago. It’s very quotable, and I don’t think it’s rotated out of stores. About as good a 5 dollar movie as you can get. Tombstone is the movie that got me into westerns, and this thread has me wondering if there's ever been a western as quotable. There's definitely better westerns, and more memorable ones, but i'm struggling to think of any that have as many quotable lines in. Tombstone is both a movie for people that like Westerns&just a good movie for a casual movie watcher honestly. It's hard to really put my finger on why that is, but it's just a flick that anyone can enjoy. Pulp Fiction is still my favorite, but Tombstone is 1a. Related, there's a comic con here in town and Michael Biehn is one of the guests. Plan on getting him to sign the dvd.

I saw an interview and Biehn said the climactic duel with Ringo vs. Holliday was the best thing he has ever done in his career, especially his "All right, lunger. Let's do it!" bit. I think he also noted that Tombstone is basically a western done as an early 90s action flick, complete with constant one liners. It's got enough basic western traditionalism to satisfy those fans as well, and also enough of the mush interest for the women. I think that goes underestimated with Tombstone. Women like that movie about as much as men. Recently I showed my mom and my wife both Tombstone and Unforgiven on back to back Saturdays. My wife dislikes westerns in general, but my mom definitely preferred Tombstone. She liked Unforgiven as well but not as much, and I wonder if it is because basically every woman in it is a hooker (aside from Sally Two Trees, who has zero dialogue).
One thing as well is that the heels are just to die for in Tombstone. You've got the smooth, kinda amusing Curly Bill. You've got the semi elegant psycho that quotes Latin and the Bible in Ringo. You've got a cocky but cowardly Ike. I can safely say that heels were infinitely better in movies about 25 years ago.

My mother hates westerns, ever since her second husband, who had all John Wayne and Clint Eastwood's movies on VHS and would watched them repeatedly (also why I disliked westerns as a kid). She absolutely loves Tombstone.

You die first, get it? Your friends might get me in a rush, but not before I make your head into a canoe, you understand me?
