Robb and Grey Wind dying in A Storm of Swords was heartbreaking but, the final blow for me was Catelyn. Let's recap, shall we? 1. Her husband's head is on a pike at the top of the red keep. 2. She watches her father lose his mind before slowly dying. 3. All while her sister has holed herself up in the Eyrie and abandoned them. 4. Santa is a Lannister hostage.5. Arya is dead for all she knows. 6. Her former ward has taken Winterfell. 7. Last she heard of Bran and Rickon? They were dead. 8. Now she watches her son's allies murder him in cold blood. 9. Then, after all that, she finally breaks down. At which time, a Frey slits her throat. Took me a month to keep reading after that. it's terrible that there was no Christmas presents that year

Never was much of a M.A.S.H. fan but killing Henry Blake on the way home, WTF? This is due to McLain Stevenson not wanting to do the show anymore

Mentioning Gwen, what about Ultimate Gwen Stacy? Making MJ the love interest from the start reduced Gwen to the best friend role but she was better for it. They basically switched her personality with MJ and it made her all the more likeable for it. Then Ultimate Carnage sucked the life force out of her and left her dead on the Parker's lawn. Didn't help that Bendis admitted they only introduced her to kill her off.

I call bullshit on Zara from Jurassic World. The Jurassic series isn't a morality tale and plenty of good people have met grisly ends in the series, from Robert Muldoon and John Arnold in Jurassic Park to Eddie Carr in The Lost World. Though even in the original book Henry Wu, who was a reasonable character and the complete opposite of his film counterpart, gets torn apart by raptors. I don't buy into this notion that deaths in these movies have to be deserved. Her getting killed wasn't the problem, it was just shown in such stupidly gratuitous way and made it seem like we should cheer that this person was killed.

Rockstar games deciding to kill off Johnny Klebitz and making the entire Lost MC be complete jobbers. Cosigned. Why in the entire hell does the game keep trying to make Trevor sympathetic or imply Michael was unreasonable for attempting to set him up in Yankton when THAT is his reintroduction? Honestly, I felt like they had so much potential with Trevor if they just kept him straight forward. Instead they had too many weird comic-relief scenes with him or trying to make him extra layered, when he was meant to represent that chaotic side of GTA players. Because of the writing in that game, I ended up finding the trio of protags from IV/EfLC to be way more likeable. The only character in V that I found likeable was Lamar. But I'm getting a bit off topic here. I agree about Tonks and Lupin. I get that JK was probably trying to get across how costly the wizarding war was, but she went a little overboard killing off characters.

I might be the only person who really dug that scene, because it was actually a rather fitting end for Johnny Klebitz. His brotherhood was everything to him, so it just makes total sense that there was no rebound from having to kill Billy and having to disband his chapter of the club. There was nothing that was going to stop him from doing down Ashley's path, so it made sense that this was how the torch was passed from IV to V. It's depressing as shit, but that's pretty true of TLaD as a whole. If there was any protagonist that made sense to get killed off in emphatic fashion, it was going to be the guy from the grimmest GTA campaign ever.

Yeah, it sucked when Eddie got killed, but it was pretty quick, and honestly...a damn cool and memorable death. Zara was tortured. Kudos to the actress going all in and being proud to be the first on-screen female death, but D'Onofrio should have gotten something like that. Not an assistant.

could have already been said Tracy, the Mother in How I Met Your Mother killed so the long, long ago played out thing of Ted and Rob could end up together Every time I see the show on tv while flipping through channels, I just say to myself "none of it matters, Ted ends up with Robin", and change the channel. The part that pisses me off the most isn't even so much Tracy dying (Don't get me wrong, it sucks, and I hate it) but the fact that they did a masterful job with the Robin/Barney relationship over the span of a few seasons, THEN made the audience sit through an absolutely painful season that dealt specifically with their wedding weekend only to undo it in a span of 5 minutes by basically saying "LOL, Didn't work out". Then a 5 minute rushed montage explaining that the mother is dead and Ted showing up at Robin's. Nope. f*** you, show. It's lazy and it undid pretty much the entire series. It's unwatchable garbage to me now.

Jesus in The Walking Dead. This affected me more than Carl’s death, who I never liked.... Jesus had so much left to give to the show. My understanding is that the actor wanted off because he absolutely hated how they'd treated his character.

a at the time example
Doyle in Angel
likable, and the only original character of the original 3, and he gets replaced by Wesley of all people
turns out he could have been let go due to personal issues and Wesley ended up growing to be an amazing character

It sucks because the few bits we do get with her, she's really damn likable. I sure would have f***ing liked to meet the Mother more. Like, I could totally live with "the mom dies" if it hadn't made it feel like such a "So anyway, Robin" like they did. especially since they spent so long pointing out that Ted and Robin are a terrible couple...

And introducing Robin/Barney, then flipping out that people liked it and looking for flimsy excuses to get rid of it. "It makes us old. That's... that's what the writers have, apparently."
