I feel like Cena's been devalued too much for even that to matter at all.

It's funny how people love an Austin return or a Rock return and Cena is just like...eh.
I can see him being that legend that nobody really misses.
I actually didn't even think about him until this post. And I still don't wanna see him come back.

That is reflective of Cena's booking the last few times they used him. Cena had a huge cache of rub to give and they just brought him out to have meaningless, stupid matches and barely sell how big a deal he or his losses were. Cena up until 2016 or so, I would be totally hyped for even a temporary return. But now? With the way they use him? Couldn't care less.

For RAW Reunion, they had him start the show to basically be the intro guy and as soon as the Usos came out and did a rap, he was gone and not seen for the rest of the night. This was a guy who was the top of the company for a decade and almost single handedly saved it from being utterly irrelevant in the mid to late 00s. And he only has brief cameos now. If any of those men were healthy, could you imagine a WWE where Austin, Rock, Hogan, Bruno etc were treated that way? Absolutely not.

Cena not tapping is such a typical one dimensional WWE thing. I really think he should have refused to tap at some point, had a limb broken, and then actually tapped out in match after that. Then he could say he tapped because he realized he only had a finite time to be in the WWE and didn't want to risk losing months to years worth of his career because of pride. Then every match after that him being in a submission hold would have a new edge because we know hes tapped before and doesn't want to risk whats left of his career because he didn't want to lose one match.
But of course it was always just simple minded "TEH JOHN CENER BRAVE NEVA GIV UP!!1!" cookie cutter bullshit.
For as much as Cena put over Lesnar at Summerslam, imagine if at Night of Champions in the rematch he had actually tapped to the Kimura. Instead they went with "CENA ALMOST WON BUT ROLLINS". Yawn.

I want him to return and be the man (sorry Ric) again for a long reign, but any appearance as long as he's treated properly is good.

Wow, I just understood it's been almost two years and they have wasted all that time by having him in unimportant matches. Dr. Thuganomics segment @ WrestleMania was cool though. I still want to see him against his past rivals or legends (ie. Goldberg) and couple NXT guys before announced retirement if there ever will be one.
