I'm happy for her, but does this company really need more wrestlers right now?

I'm happy for her, but does this company really need more wrestlers right now? No, and that's the thing. If they're going around signing up everyone they can, they need to start making cuts. Ryder, Hawkins, Ziggler, Jinder, Konnor, Viktor, Primo, Epico, Sin Cara, Tamina, Mickie James, Jaxson Ryker, Steve Cutler, Wesley Blake, Shayna's goons, Tino Sabbatelli, Riddick Moss. None of those people will ever amount to anything. As a business, it's stupid to keep them employed. What are they worried about? "Oh no, AEW signed Wesley Blake! We're screwed now!" I mean, come on.

Indi and Tessa Blanchard are going to be dope Women’s Tag Champs one of these days, and the matches between them and Chelsea and Deonna are going to be fantastic.
Just wanted to put that out into the world.

What are they worried about? "Oh no, AEW signed Wesley Blake! We're screwed now!" I mean, come on. Yes. That’s literally what they’re thinking. It’s ridiculous but they do have a case. One guy they released who they didn’t think would amount to anything was Cody. Who went on to form a promotion that’ll be going on TNT in a few weeks. So yeah, they don’t want anyone to have that sort of idea or even sign for said company regardless of who it is.

Until maybe his last year when he was Stardust, Cody was someone they clearly always thought fairly highly of. It ended up never materializing but there was a period around 2011-12 where it seemed like they were grooming him for a possible main event run in the future as he was working feuds with a lot of the top established babyfaces high on the card (Orton, Mysterio, Big Show). Yeah he never quite got there but he was pushed in the upper midcard for years and for the most part always had something to do whether it be IC Champion or part of a pushed featured tag team (Legacy, Rhode Scholars, Rhodes Brothers). Wesley Blake on the other hand is a nobody who they clearly have never had any plans for and hasn't done anything since being a NXT Tag Champion like 5 years ago. Honestly I didn't think he was still in the company until I read this thread as I don't follow NXT and you like literally never hear anything about him.

Wesley Blake is in a pretty decent relatively new tag team/faction called The Forgotten Sons. They’re not popular with the online crowd, but they’re decent enough and get hear. Just got their first WWEShop merchandise too. So yeah. His career is looking up from where it’s been the past 4 or so years.

Everyone besides a very rare few are just cogs in the WWE machine. If they could replace you with someone, they would have in a heartbeat back in the day and one of the biggest problems in the past with the company is fitting square pegs into round holes instead of blending roles for people’s characters and make it make sense to them. Now, they still think of them as cogs but they need to hoard the cogs in case one gets bigger outside the company. No, it’s not a straight one to one comparison but if Wesley Blake gets one idea or gets an act he wants to do in the indies over, then gets signed to AEW then WWE will be kicking themselves and the talent will gain more power from it. Which they don’t want to have happen.

Right with you about Baszler's goons. They wrestle like deer in the headlights, yet other more talented women are still stuck on the NXT house show loop.
