If they were genuine in their desire to want to get the show killed, they could just not sign the contract surely? I don't know, but I could foresee the distinct possibility that their contract had network options in them that obligates them to keep churning it out. If that was the case, I could also understand why they would not want to leave it in the hands of someone else. They most likely had renewal options, yes, and decided to exercise them.

I think the last time I watched South Park was the superhero trilogy. Not really any particular reason I stopped, just kind of lost interest and never regained it - not even seen any of the old episodes again since then. The same thing happened to me. I used to watch South Park and the Simpsons often. Over time, my interest seems to have petered out. I think I just outgrew SP. The Simpsons just plain suck nowadays.

South Park is the last of the original Comedy Central, isn't it?
I loved old Comedy Central afternoons; Dr. Katz, Make Me Laugh, UCB, Win Ben Stein's Money, etc. I also miss shows like Insomniac, TV Funhouse, old SNL, and so on. Even Kilborn's goofy ass Daily Show was entertaining.
I liked Broad City and Tosh.0 is funny, but old Comedy Central was dope.

Given how Viacom have been with creators on other series, Stone and Parker probably couldn't cancel if they wanted to. If they did they'd just be replaced and the show would go on like Ren and Stimpy once they canned John K. It would get significantly better and actually have episodes made in a timely manner?

What, you don't like a bunch of bits with super intense middle-aged men that very blatantly represent John K.'s presumably messed up relationship with his father?

Wait, what? I'm completely out of the loop on that one. Can someone please catch me up on why Parker and Stone wanted it cancelled, especially if they're still working on it?

All last season they had the hashtag #cancelsouthpark and they kept making episodes designed to test the limits and patience of their networks and audience (they took another jab at The Simpsons too with altering the hashtag to #cancelthesimpsons for one episode). Of course, the ratings stayed strong and they probably knew they would.

Would the network even have the right to hand it to someone else if they decided to cancel it themselves? I'm so confused and hungry.

Thank christ The more this show pisses people off, the more I love it. Weird flex, but okay.

Haven’t seen the last two or three seasons so can’t really comment on those but it was definitely past it’s prime when I stopped watching, seasons 4-11 are still classic TV though. I’ll applaud them for not being afraid of telling the jokes they want in this day and age at least.

I think they mean outrage at it not being cancelled from the fans/former disappointed with its drop in quality I mean I don’t think anyone is foaming at the mouth for it to be cancelled but still whatever makes them happy I guess?

OK the timely manner I'll give you. (Not that I think John K's "humor" holds up now. But Games Animation was 1000x better doing Rocko's Modern Life.)

MST3K should be enough to carry it alone, but you had some classic shows, SNL, Kids in the Hall, AB FAB...

That’s the only other reason I can think off the top of my head because I agree with the first quote that I quoted, I don’t think they are outraging anyone content wise. Most people are kinda wise to their windup attempts but yeah, you could be right

I think the last time I saw anything at all South Park did without specifically looking into what was going on was when nobody would shut up with that stupid 'Member Berries meme, and really I found that meme so incredibly annoying and unfunny that I imagine I'd have absolutely hated actually watching it.

Still had good stand up blocks as well(Although they repeated a bit too much, I guess). Though there is a small bleed point where some of those shows overlapped with some of the best of the "newer" ones that would eventually completely replace them. That was the Golden Moment.
