Reason I think Cage retained was he doesn't want to go down as a shitty champion, that does him or Impact no favours. His reign has been marred by injuries and he is definitely a guy you'd have as a champion so looking back, he needed the win tonight just as much. And after everything that Sami did in that feud, Cage winning it was really the only option. Yup, it would have destroyed Cage as a main eventer for ages if he lost. That being said, Sami does need a title win soon. I'm guessing the feud will continue and Sami wins it early next year.

A solid show, which would have been better if the crowd didn't sit on their hands throughout most of it. Did some early nonsense kill the crowd? How do you have a quiet show in Chicago? The gauntlet was possibly not a good decision to start with (maybe the worst match and had some silly stuff). But also the ring seemed too loud, probably not well adjusted sound.

Just finished watching it, have to say that was pretty damn fun. Nice to see this company trending in the right direction for a nice amount of time now.
Trying to follow it a bit more now that I'll be able to watch it on Axs, and I was really impressed by The North. Also think there's a chance that Impact might have my favorite women's division among the main companies in the US and Canada right now; maybe not the overall best, I'm sure most people would point to NXT for that, but definitely a good one containing a lot of women whose work I really enjoy.
Also not surprised that Elgin/Marufuji was really solid, but damnit, I'll say it again, I wish Impact's streaming service would partner with NOAH so their stuff could get out there more.

The KOs have a variety of characters and some pretty good workers.

I'm actually really looking forward to Brian Cage vs Sami Callihan. They are my two favorite guys currently in Impact ant they are going to main event the biggest show of the year. It's exciting to me because on most wrestling ppvs in general the match I'm most looking forward to usually isn't the main event. I agree. The main event is usually one of the matches I care the least about but Cage vs. Callahan had an amazing build with all the Melissa Santos stuff involved. Both times Sami left Melissa laying in the build up were literally jaw dropping moments for me and those are such a rarity these days.

This show feels like it takes place in a church, you can hear when one person says something. No, that was BFG 2017 that took place in a church 😆

See, I think RVD should have turned in 2010 and been Immortal's #1 guy instead of Jeff Hardy. RVD is a great cocky heel. I'm glad something happened with those guys tonight though because on paper that team made NO sense to a long time viewer. It was during a match with Rhino that RVD broke his left in Feb. 2000, which led to him vacating the TV title after almost 2 years and also kept him from winning the ECW world title and thus totally sending the company down the tubes. In fact the very last ECW PPV ended with the shot of RVD and Rhino facing off to set up a PPV main event for Living Dangerously 2001 that never happened. Come on, TNA. Have RVD actually mention all of this in a big heel reveal promo. Callis mentioned a little of that history on commentary. I'm thinking and hoping it will be brought up.

I'm a week late watching this but I managed to avoid all spoilers. I really enjoyed BFG. I thought I'd like it but it far exceeded my expectations. I liked all the matches and only really noticed the dead crowd during the Elgin match and I thought that was due to too many false finishes. RVD turning was a truly shocking moment because I don't think he's been a heel since the Alliance angle and even then he was treated as a face by the fans. Moose vs. Shamrock was way better than I expected but it got really sloppy at the end and the botched finish ruined it for me. The crowd clearly hated it too. Unless Cage is actully cleared to wrestle idk why he won. It seemed like the crowd was ready for a new champion and when they didn't get it Cage winning fell a little flat. My biggest complaint is the Rascalz match getting bumped from the show since they're my favorite act in Impact. Any reason given for this? Just a timing issue? All in all a great ppv and a strong way to kick off the AXS TV era. Impact has been great for over a year despite losing a ton of top players and they continue to produce a top notch product. Huge props to Callis, D'amore and their entire team for doing what everyone said was impossible 2 years ago.

Huge props to Callis, D'amore and their entire team for doing what everyone said was impossible 2 years ago. The logic is that Cage would look weak after having his wife attacked twice. Having him lose the title too would damage him badly. But having Sami threaten his family to get a re-match works, make Sami look like even more of a heel. Think it was timing, the match was on This is Impact though.
