I need to get my ass back in gear, so I figured I'd make this thread to see if it'll help motivate me. So, health conscious members of FAN, what's your routine like? Whatcha eating? What are your fitness goals?

I run five miles about every day. I’ve got simple food tastes, so I stick to mainly lean meat, veggies, fruits, some carbs. Try to avoid eating late, I definitely try and stay away from sugar. Juice or fruit is my exception. And I haven’t drank in about a year and nine months. Which is what made me get back into running daily and watching my diet. I gained something like 40 lbs just from binge drinking. So if you’re starting at a base point, I’d say..take it slow. Really look at a bunch of different options, different diets or work out regiments that people have, that may appeal to you. Structure helps, disciplining yourself into habits helps. A lot of it does boil down to how many calories you take in and how many you burn. Have fun. Take your time. Be kind to yourself and considerate with sleep and patience and all that Goals wise: eh. I’m just happy I’m lean again. And not a raging alcoholic. I would like to do body building again and gain mass (which I’ve only successfully really done once) but I’m old and lazy. I hate eating that much. And I get bored lifting. But I have told a friend a goal is to finally join a gym and do some circuit training again.

If you have any specific questions send me a PM. I’ve done personal training in the recent past and coach people now when I have the time. Would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

What are your fitness goals? Basically, even though I haven't been able to get to the gym in a while due to time constraints, I try to keep my diet as clean as possible and have smaller meals throughout the day as opposed to 3 big meals. For a snack, something like 2 hard-boiled eggs and a banana works. Due to my family's history with cholesterol, I've also put a hard cut on red meat, mainly focusing on chicken or fish, and occasionally a more vegan approach like beans and brown rice. Also remember, having a healthy diet and exercise isn't a magic pill. This is a marathon, not a sprint. There's gonna be a struggle in the beginning, but it pays off so much in the end.

I appreciate it. Any thoughts on barbell complexes? I struggle mightily with ADHD, so I've been looking into workouts that can burn fat in short amounts of time for when my focus is total shit.

stated Exercising again 2-3 weeks ago.
Not gonna lie i don't diet much just try to not overeat and eat sweets in moderation(but not completely cut then).I also never drink alcohol ,that helps. But I have eaten much less Beef Meat and more chicken instead.
Also dont overwork yourself at the beggining,go to the gym 4-3 times a week. WHenever your body gets used to exercise again you can move up to 6-5 times.
Follow clear instructions when doing the exercises, correct forms and moderate weights are very crucial. No use doing an exercise if you are not putting the strength and gain in the proper place

I’ve been going to 9Round fitness/kickboxing every single day for about a year now. It’s great! I’ve noticeably lost a lot of weight just through the physical activity, but I don’t have enough will-power to diet my way into looking my absolute best. I like eating way too much. Lmao

(Though thinking about it, I have nearly completely cut out fast food and soda)

So I know this kind of information is readily available, but sometimes it's nice to get direct answers. This is the only community I'm apart of (no social media), so what the hell. What do y'all like to eat post workout? Any supplements you take?
I thought caffeinated pre-workout stuff would help me focus, but it turns out caffeine has the opposite effect on me.

I am a big guy, but at least I am active enough. I haven't gone to the gym in six months, but that doesn't mean I don't exercise. I have been walking and run more than I did before. However, I do acknowledge that I don't have the best diet out there, but I tell myself that I don't need to eat some stuff. Sure, sometimes I eat a little more because of appetite, but I am trying to fight it more.

Forgot to mention in my first post that due to seizure issues I couldn't drive until about 3 years ago, so I had to walk 4 miles a day to and from work, going there being mostly an incline. Man, I had no idea how much that was keeping me in shape. The ADHD couldn't stop me because I had to do it, heh.

My personal routine is push, pull, legs. I have to work around a lot of soft tissue damage, which limits what I can do. As such, I don't really chase weight, except for the standing press, which is my favorite exercise.
My diet is mainly eggs, steak, bison, and beef. I eat a lot of the same few veggies, and have organic frozen fruit mixed into Fage yogurt. For supplements, I take turmeric, grassfed desiccated beef organs, resveratrol, and to help me sleep I take ZMA and melatonin.
Supplements specific to working out, I make a shake of creatine, casein protein, whey protein, and high branched cyclic dextrine, a complex carb. Then during my workout I drink a similar shake, sans creatine. Pre and peri workout nutrition is essential, and trumps post workout nutrition.
I get three solid meals a day, as the eating smaller meals throughout the day is a great way to keep your blood sugar perpetually high and possibly lead to insulin resistance and finally diabetes.
I always recommend a series of programs Josh Bryant developed. He created programs designed for commercial gyms and last only about 30 minutes. They have stupid gimmicky sounding names like 30 Minute Chest Annihilation!, but they are in fact solid plans. Look them up on youtube if you like.

At my heaviest weight I was 394 pounds and I have lost 90 pounds since I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It made me change my dietary habits and I've been able to keep the weight off for about a year now.
I've since plateaued and I am trying to hit my target weight of 225 pounds. I'm currently going through a divorce and I'm trying to get to a better place physically and mentally.
I'm about 75 pounds away and I stumbled upon r/intermittentfasting and I started a 16-8 regimen yesterday. Intermittent Fasting looks like a great option for me to lose the weight and help with insulin resistance. I've read a lot of people were able to reverse their type 2 diabetes and get off medication which is my goal.

I've started eating more fruits and salads, and chicken for protein, and switched up my work outs. Still not finding as much motivation towards exercising as I'd like, but I've lost five pounds so far so it's a start I guess. I have low active thyroid and arthritis so it can be a chore sometimes to accomplish anything. I take turmeric and vitamin C supplements to keep inflammation down and my immune system up.

Yoga with Adrienne is the one form of excercise I've been able to stick to. I'd imagine yoga may help with ADHD too.
Nuts! Pick the right ones (basically nothing added to them) and they provide so many health benefits. Several studies suggest they help weight loss too if that's your goal.
Also cut soda out your diet and watch calories in other drinks (alcohol and fancy coffees are easily overlooked). There are better breakfasts than cereal like porridge with berries or something egg based.

The key to getting healthy ones is to go into the cooking section and buy them raw. That's what I do with almonds. You can get full off just a couple handfuls of nuts. Almonds and leafy greens help lower the risk of getting dementia, which is raised by eating almost everything else I eat (meat and dairy).

6 months ago I cut way back on saturated fats like cheese and crisps, and meat and replaced them with more fruit and veg. I stopped eating past 8pm (generally go to bed about 11.30-12) and took up running (12 miles a week spread over 3 runs) and a hell of a lot more walking and have lost 45 pounds. First time since my teens I weigh the weight I do now.
