The age old dilemma, famously broached by the movie Back To The Future 2: A future version of Biff Tannen travels back to give himself info of "future" winners of sports that had already happened and the book printed in the future time. Mainly so 'past him' could use it to get them both super rich.
But would you use it if you could, and how?
Yes, you can consider every follow-up question in this thread. Including:
- Will the future somehow suck because I bet on stuff and won? - How far do I go? Do I just shoot for the moon and go for trillionaire status? - Is the book for real, or are there some errors or false facts listed as truths? - Jeez, do I look like that 60 years from now? - ...Make like a tree and... what?

A few small bets to test the validity, then go bigger.
Probably wouldn't go nutso with it.

The key would be to place a few bets here and there that you know would lose so nobody would get too suspicious.

First sensible thing to do is to test if it works. Just see if the results are as the book says. Then, maybe a decent bet. Or probably a big one. Like, once I make a bet, does that completely change the timeline? Would the book from then on out be accurate now that I've tampered with the timeline with just a bet? I'll make a big bet at first, but after that I'll just do small bets that wouldn't put a dent on my initial winnings in case the timeline had altered. At the same time, I'll try to make sensible investments with the money I won.
After that, buy an island. Decorate it with the skulls of my enemies. If I don't have enemies, trying to decorate an island with skulls of hapless shmucks should quickly fix that.

I called Super Bowl 31 exactly. Who would play in it, the score, and that Desmond Howard would return a kick.
Unfortunately, I was like 13 or 14, and I couldn't bet anywhere, and no adults listened to me. Actually, I would have cleaned up around then. I was picking the Red Wings, Silvercharm, and the other major sporting events.

Like others have said I would test the validity of the book by placing a few small bets here and there. Once I knew the book was legit, I’d start cleaning house, making sure I lose enough large bets to make it look truly random yet still coming out ahead. Id never reveal the existence of the book to anyone and I wouldn’t go crazy enough that people get suspicious. And I will never ever make bets with illegal bookies because that’s how you end up dead by winning too much money off them. I had to make bets all over the world never making too much money in one location. Once I had about a couple of million or so I quietly buy a house in a quiet suburb and just enjoy the rest of my life with my wife.

Once I was positive it was the real deal, absolutely, though once I had enough to live comfortably for life I'd stop rather than looking to build an empire off of it or something.

I really enjoyed Stephen King's take on it in 11/22/63, where the main character gets beat half to death by bookies anyways because this dude who has no history of betting and then coming out of nowhere to clean up is really shady. I'd definitely go ahead and take advantage of it but purposely get a ton of stuff wrong before getting one big one right and then skipping town.

Ab so f***ing loutley
I would bet on smaller but still significant games at first just to make sure it all works of course like someone said that brings up questions like does it change anything in the book now that I am making money off these results and having to find some way to collect the winnings annonymously because no doubt becoming a public figure who just won millions in a timeline I should not even exsist in would no doubt cause more harm then the money I just won.

Without a shadow of a doubt.
Id be smart enough not to go crazy so people are suspicious. But Id totally use it for my own gain.

Absolutely.
Agree with the "test run". When sure about validity, would also "throw" a few bets, to build up a reputation as a gambler who's not always right. A couple of big paydays mixed in with a bigger history of losses works for me.
As for any moral questions or worries about 'destiny'... who's to say that I wasn't destined to get the book to begin with?

I'm absolutely using it in that manner. Start small like others are saying, but always bet something on the longshots, so there's a record of unwise betting. Build up, intentionally tank a bigger bet on occasion (easily done with horse racing), then start going for the big bucks.

A few small bets to test the validity, then go bigger. Probably wouldn't go nutso with it. You guys all do realise you can just watch the results without betting to validate the book, right?
