As British football commentator Martin Tyler says... AND IT'S LIVE!
NXT goes live over two hours from this week onwards from their long time home of Full Sail University just outside Orlando, Florida, and for the first two weeks, the show will be split over two networks, with the first hour airing between 8-9 Eastern Time on USA, then shifting over to the WWE Network between 9-10 Eastern Time. It'll go the full two hours on USA from October 2nd... wonder what else is on that night?
Three matches have been confirmed for the first live show - one confirmed for USA, one for the WWE Network, and the other still up in the air as to which hour it airs on.
The headline match on USA sees The Velveteen Dream defend the NXT North American Championship against the Undisputed ERA's Roderick Strong - earlier this year, Adam Cole proclaimed that at some point in 2019, the Undisputed ERA would hold all of the men's titles in NXT at the same time, and Cole currently holds the NXT Championship, while Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly are the NXT Tag Team Champions. After Strong was not involved in the decision in a three way that saw Dream pin Pete Dunne, he gained Dream's ire by setting his beloved velveteen couch on fire, leading to this title match. Can Strong complete the Undisputed Prophecy?
Over on the WWE Network, Killian Dain and Matt Riddle will renew hostilities in a Street Fight. Dain targeted the former UFC star to kick off his return to the yellow and black brand, and defeated Riddle in their first meeting a few weeks ago. Riddle isn't going to let it lie there, and wants revenge on the Beast of Belfast, will the Original Bro get it?
The third match has not had its network announced, but it has a big say on the future of the NXT Women's Championship, as Bianca Belair, Candice LeRae, Io Shirai and Mia Yim will face off in a Fatal Four Way to determine who will challenge Shayna Baszler for the title. LeRae is the underdog, but she's also the only one of the four who have not challenged Baszler and failed in the past, but is she too focused on revenge over Shirai to achieve the goal at large? And there's a spectre looming over this match... and it's not Baszler. Rhea Ripley will likely have a say having got her hands on Baszler last week, but being shut out of this match.
In promoting the move to going live, Triple H has made a point of using the move to give new talent more opportunities - will we see any debuts in Full Sail tonight?
It all kicks off from 8/7c on USA, then switching over to the WWE Network from 9/8c!
