RAW is live from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, and even though it was on last week, tonight is THE SEASON PREMIERE YOU GUYS. There's meant to be a new set, new graphics, but there definitely is a new announce team, as Michael Cole has shifted over to the Blue side... let's welcome the new team of Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin and... errrrr... Jerry Lawler. So not ENTIRELY new then.
Six days before potentially being locked inside Hell In A Cell with The Fiend, Seth Rollins will "empty the tank" for one of the greatest ever, as he defends the Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio. It wasn't that long ago that Mysterio considered taking off the mask for good, but his son Dominick talked him out of it. Now the Master of the 619 is three seconds away from once again becoming Champion... though if he wins, he replaces Rollins in the Cell with The Fiend, so is it REALLY worth it?
Six days before potentially being locked inside Hell In A Cell with The Man, Sasha Banks will "empty the tank" for one of the greatest ever, as she... yeah, Sasha wasn't entirely being serious here. Heck, she wasn't serious at all. She's up against Alexa Bliss, her mortal real life enemy if you believe some circles. Unlike Rollins, The Boss doesn't have anything on the line here except momentum, with a shot at Becky Lynch's RAW Women's Title just a few days away. Can Bliss put a chink in the armour, so to speak?
Brock Lesnar doesn't have as long to wait for his big match, as he challenges Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship on the debut episode of SmackDown on FOX, his first TV match in the WWE since a March 4th 2004 bout with Hardcore Holly on SmackDown. Lesnar's on RAW tonight - in the seven plus years he's been there, he's never wrestled on the show, yet he'll compete on Team Blue this week. What's up with that?
The Miz recently became a father again, but tonight he's got two of the big daddies of the industry, and no I don't mean Shirley Crabtree, it would be the miracle of all miracles if Miz got him. Appearing on Miz TV are Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair - there's no obvious reason why Miz has asked them on, other than ratings... and the fact Crown Jewel is just a month away. Oh boy, expect a load of boos.
The Universal Championship isn't the only title on the line tonight. AJ Styles puts the United States Title up against Cedric Alexander - watch Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez try and claim that Alexander is still being buried even if he wins it; while Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode make the first defence of the RAW Tag Team Titles against Heavy Machinery.
All this and plenty more - including if Carmella will survive another show as the 24/7 Champion - tonight from 8/7c on USA!
