I remember thinking that Triple H vs King Booker "King of Kings" match at SummerSlam was really underwhelming considering the pedigree (pun well-intended) both men had earned at that stage of their career. Haven't seen it since it aired, though. Honestly I think that's a mix of them making Booker look like absolute trash in the build having to cheat to get one over on Lawler and on Booker being well past the point of actually caring about wrestling by then, given he was gone from the company two days later and never at all cared in TNA.

Cena vs Orton should've been like, instant money. It was at a time that both were really coming into their own as wrestlers, too. But they just like, never clicked. Didn't help we saw it a dozen times, too. The problem with this was they gave the match to us too early and then tried it way too many times. Both guys were on the road to becoming the two biggest stars in the company. I'd have put them on seperate brands or at least kept them away from each other in storylines and held off for 2 or 3 more years than they did before building something up for a Wrestlemania.

I really don't think it helped that their first consequential match at SummerSlam 2007 has two major problems with it. 1. The finish makes Orton look completely awful, having Cena kick out of the RKO then immediately jump to his feet for the AA for three. 2. Nobody cared even a little about Randy Orton in 2007. From his post-Mania 21 return up until he punted Vince he just floundered in this really awkward state where he was always prominent and clearly considered a top guy, but his reactions were always kind of, "Ehhhhhh?" and no one really seemed to want to watch him or to take him all that seriously. Basically Alberto Del Rio.

I know it's going back a long time, but I always felt they made a massive mistake turning Orton face after he won his first World title. He was too cocky and arrogant to buy as a face at that stage of his career. I always thought after he won that tile that they should have sowed seeds of discontent in Evolution and let it play out over a few months before he slowly started to gain control of the group and kicked Triple H out. I'd then have had a face Triple H feud with Orton. The way they decided to go with that storyline killed Orton for years afterwards.

True, though Batista's build was so good, it's hard to not feel like they made the right call to an extent.

It's weird to think that if maybe Orton had been booked better Batista in Guardians of the Galaxy may've never happen.

One I think a lot of people forget about is Triple H vs X Pac.
I know it's hard to remember this through the fog of X Pac Heat being a thing, but when Trips first turned heel on Degeneration X, X Pac was a white hot babyface. Then they had that singles match at Backlash '99. The first half of the match was Trips using the dragon sleeper as a resthold, and the second half was an overbooked schmoz. But worse, they both simply failed at selling the hatred they supposedly had for each other. And X Pac losing really hurt his overness.

Jeff Hardy and Shelton Benjamin are both incredibly athletic, but put them together and their matches range from ok to embarrassing botchfests on both sides.

Who would have thought seeing Hulk Hogan take on Shawn Michaels would be memorable for the wrong reasons?
